That is a very unusual calibration.

Have you tried it with just the pri change yet, as in how it drives and idles around?

Yes,went 78 to 82thou on the primaries. Then enlarged the secondaries from 1.26mm to 1.37mm.
Now idles better, starts easier and crisper throttle ..........How far can I go,or quit while ahead?

If you're happy with it, drive around for a while and see. I would hesitate to go much further, as this model was known as being lean from factory.

Keep an eye on water temps and spark plugs.

How much T slot is showing below the pri blades?
Does this carb have an adjustable bypass air feature?

No bypass and barely any slot showing but plugs have now gone black,,,,very frustrating.

Plugs wet or dry and are they fouling?
Could be just too much idling around and not enough highway jaunts!

Just dry soot. Today I noticed coolant leaking between head/block,head bolts went about 2/3 turn before torque up...blue felpro gaskets...Sh#t never ends

    71.

Seems very odd that that size cam needs no bypass air & barely any slot showing, for such a big-gish cam in a 308. Makes me wonder it there is an air leak supplying the additional idle air that you would expect with that size cam. Is the PCV hooked up? Is the pintle closing at idle & reducing the air supply [ it should do at idle ].

Blue Felpros. How old? On my 455, the composite material turned to mush around the coolant holes. About 8 yrs old.

I keep the primaries no more than 1 full turn open then open the secs to get desired idle speed, the sec T slot is higher. PVC connected.
I think engine was put together 5/6 year ago,so heads off.....or LS1 in.

I canít offer any great advice on the carb side, but putting in an LS1 is not a cheap activity.
Leave the Holden V8 engine in the car whether it stays 308 or you eventually stroke it.
What model car is this engine in?

    71,
Almost certainly going lean off idle. If you look at carb problems on forums, your problem is the probably the most common.
If the carb has a choke try this. Engine idling, close the choke slowly until the engine sound changes. Back off a touch & wire the choke in this position. Test drive. If stumble is better or gone, carb is lean.

If no choke, same procedure can be used with a piece of metal, Coke can etc for the test.
    Report back with the result.
