What’s the asking price mate ? I have seen a few for sale and with some of the prices people are asking with the COVID tax I maybe better off rebuilding mine! Happy to pay a fair price but won’t pay the same price as to get mine rebuilt!

Not Broken mate still running and driving it everyday as it’s my work Ute , just has started getting noisey lifters and leaks some oil here and there . Engine has around 450000kms on it so thought that if I have to do a cam and lifter swap I may as well give the whole engine a birthday . Would only want it rebuilt to stock specs .

Yeah she still runs fine and does not blow smoke or burn oil ect... but yeah the ticking lifters are really annoying me!

Not for sale - but just for interests sake - my old man has a VS wagon with stock 304 V8 up front (his daily driver) - his is also up around that 450,000km mark - bloody incredible. His still runs fine but there are certainly signs it's got some wear. They're great engines.

Anyway - will keep my eyes open for you too. No idea either what the current asking price is for these things.

When you consider 100,000 miles was about all we would get out of engines way back then, 450,000 km is nearly triple that.

    haha... yeah

my old man used to do a de-coke on the FX about every 6,000 miles (I used to pass him the spanners and got greasy hands like him.. aged 6!)
    and bearing/ring reco every 10,000

shit oils I reckon with ancient metallurgy = frequent rebuilds
