Default Block-Off Rubber blowing off manifold.

304 vp ute has blown off or split 4 or 5 of those rubber block-offs on banana manifold where heater hose used to be...doesn't overheat or pressurize system also have another block-off rubber on waterpump no issues.

short nose red water pump with cast impellor
cooler temp thermostat with extra hole added to bleed system easier
    bypass hose fitted
vs series 3 radiator with vs v6 thermofan turned on in memcal tune.

None of the my other cars have with similar setups have had this issue apart from splitting every few years...tried the rare spares pointed block-offs which blow off where as flat top versions will bulge or split split...wondering if new block-offs are junk or maybe air pocket/hotspot is wrecking them.

    Any ideas?
Welch plug into metal pipe with block-off over the top?

Different setup but when I deleted my heater I tapped the outlets on thermo housing and waterpump and screwed in npt/bsp plugs with sealant.

Those block offs are hit and miss, we used to used them back in the day when we knew no better and you always had to carry a spare. These days I do what RedTaxi has suggested above.

It is metal pipe coming out of banana manifold not on thermostat housing or waterpump so it can't be tapped...maybe wedge bolt or welch plug in there but difficult to get gorilla hands in there.

Ironically I've always used rubber block-offs on thermostat & manifold rarely had issues in the past & on the different efi 304 with bananas that was in torrie it never had that issue either...always had bypass hose & drilled thermostats.

Leaning towards the block-offs being junk as they do feel thinner & softer to older versions on my other cars.

Bit of a nuisance keeping spare block-offs in door pocket & 2 litre bottle of water tucked behind passenger seat lol
