Yes not that hard to change. VE is a little harder with the back of the engine being under the cowl, you can't actually see what you're doing. The hardest part is unplugging the sensor by feel only. I used my phone to take a photo so I could work out how to unplug it. From there it's just a matter of unscrewing the old sensor and screwing in the new one.

You have been patient Swampy.
It's a real pain waiting for parts when you really need them. A lot of us are in the same boat.
How long has it taken to get this magical timing cover?

hi
427 6mths not so bad , between getting screwed by painter & unskilled panel beaters ,,
unexpected electric window complete o/haul rollers /motors /runners re-plate and repaint / new locks new handles /all rubbers replaced / All glass polish inside outside / disassemble all latches clean and relube . Last job Still have to replace deadener and rust proof doors
Besides major health problems .
Trying to get a fair priced good looking cover is impossible 90% china 50-70$ or over priced 300$ up for cvr or comp . The cover was Aus 125$ plus a little freight with big order . The covers have gone up now .

Hi Swampy,
I haven't read this post all the way through but any pici's of all this work you have done, as regards rust proofing the doors, In the past I've used open gear lubricant, spray it from the bottom of the door to half way up from a aerosol, comes out as a liquid,
the liquid evaporates leaving a sticky rust proofed inside of the door, leave the doors open so any excess falls out the drain holes.

hi
Conrod0
The aussie v8 site has limited photo host but at some stage I will most definitely post more pics.
The engine and trans will both be painted real brite colour . Trans paint is done . Works for me and keeps the enthusiasm up .
The electric windows is not hard . . Very very time consuming if done properly .
Redoing deadener as the factory coating is lifting and small minor lines of rust are appearing . I will be using 3M sound deadener Kahguard . 3M now own the australian rights to this. Applied with shutz gun and extension hose . All this is done at Holden factory when the doors are empty of all mechanicals . Less clean up .
3M Cavity wax plus . BE CAUTIONED --MANY MANY similar TYPES on the market . Done by aerosol with 3M applicator kit 3x wands .
some have no temperature rating , ie under bonnet use
some are actually for flat panels and between seams ie no vertical holding power
rust prevention products I would look into DIMITROL , 3M , Teroson [owned by Henkel who owns Loktite ] The cavity wax is water viscosity donot use but the deadener is OK
3M Was the easiest to get from a distributor . No matter what product phone the state or national representative .

Around 30$ per tube for each of the 3M products plus freightLast edited by swampy; 23-12-2021 at 09:10 PM.
