    Default My Wb Tonner build

This thread will be slow. As money and time permits. But it is a start.
The body was a bit rough. But was ok for the $ spent. A few of us spent some time doing the usual unpicking..

    Hi
This is impressive for a street car

    https://www.chevelles.com/forums/13-...-wont-tow.html

Look at the dyno sheet low end and topend to 6500

The torque is strong and ealry but makes good hp at the top end ,I`m in heaven .

Torque coming in early and as strong as it does means the cylinder head is probably maxed out . On the fllip side it shows why it hard with smaller heads to rev a chevy .If u don't got the big heads it wont rev .

Engine sounds good! That should get it moving ok. Does the body need much work?

    True Swampy..
Torque gets off the line, hp pulls you through..These heads were maxed out at 240 cfm..i did not want a small block screamer..would rather something that pulls a house down ☺

I only got it as a rolling cab mate. I already have most panels. It is not bad considering. Bottom half LHS pillar needs to be replaced. Both sills too. All in all it should scrub up ok☺

    Hi
In a ute unless your going to use some form of traction aid getting grip would be challenging .
The above scenario shows how good the 210afr heads are . To get even more street manners remove the
inlet manifold Edelbrock super victor to weiand 7530 , loose hp gain torque
change cam for 10-15 less duration loose hp gain torque
vac for power brakes would increase with both of the above

motor was pk hp about 6100 with previous setup with max about 6500rpm

The heads are actually holding this engine back . Look at TRIK HQ sbc 400 227afr heads 12:1 CR 260++SR cam peak hp approx. 6800rpm 4500convertor and 275 tyres 4.3 gears This would be an angry engine compared to the 427 above .

    HI
Going tighter in rear gear will help a little re load the engine up. But go to far and u can turn the car into a pig . auto or manual box??

Not too sure on the rear gear ratio.
Can sort that out down the track. Was thinking around the 3.7 mark..
    Turbo 400. Full manual..

    Hi
    rear gear is dependant on
end use more drag = more gear
cam shaft == rpm at 100km/h

    Factory size 225 65 14 bout 650mm diameter
    common 235 60 15 663mm dia bout 2900rpm at 1ookm/h 3.6
    255 60 15 687mm diam 3.8 diff for 2900rpm at 100km
    275 50 15 656mm diam 3.5 diff for 2900rpm at 100km/h
    274 60 15 711 mm diam 3.9 diff for 2900rpm at 100kph

Tyre size influences gearing a lot !!
remember rpm probably goes up a little depending on how much convertor slips

As suggested by cam companies and torque convertor makers
    street cam is around 230--240at.050
convertor for above is about 2500-3000 stall minimum

The body has been blasted and expoxy primed. It still needs sills, full cowel panel and the inner chamber. All is unpicked and ready to go..sooner or later..Chassis cleaned and painted.
