12v to 16v alternator

Is there anyone on here that knows how to change a 12v alternator to charge a 16v battery. It would have to be able to charge at 18.5v to get the job done. Mine is a smallish 80 amp that I would like modified.

ps... don't forget most modern BCM controlled alternators will charge at up to 16v

I know you can put an external voltage regulator on.

If you are wanting the higher voltage just to run the ign, Davis Unified Ign have a bolt on 12/16V box that does the job. I believe ICE ign in Vic also has one.

Mechman do an adjustable external reg up to 19 volts.

Thanks everyone, I have purchased a powermaster race 16v alternator so all good. Smitty, I did a thorough dyno session with a super sedan engine a while back, baseline was with the dyno battery and alternator around 14v. Then tested with a fully charged 12v battery and no alternator, lost about 5-6 hp. Then a 3/4 charged 12v battery no alternator, lost another 5-6 hp, this test simulated what the output would be at the end of a race. Then a fully charged 16v race battery, no alternator, picked up 6 hp over the 12v with alternator combo.
This was with MSD ignition and simulated race set up how it is raced with no alternator. I am going this way for my own drag car and 6 hp is 6 hp, I am picky with things like that.
Anyone want to buy a near new, used once, lightweight [7 lbs] anti gravity lithium iron battery with restart option and charger cheap?

Absolutely killer, they make a big difference.
Any electric fans and pumps run so much better.
