I bought new tyres for my GTO last week, 235/60/14. Hankook, with raised whitewall lettering. $190 ea, fitted & balanced. I might be out of touch, but I thought that was pretty reasonable.

hi
GTO
http://www.tarziatyrecentre.com.au/tyres/?df=va&rf=va&va=149%7C88%7C43&dfv=149
This place always gives fair pricing indication .
Bob Jane southern Adelaide did 100$ each on 235/60/15 Nankang fitted 18mths ago
235 is and was a very common width and helps keep the price down
speed ratings and load ratings have gone up since my purchase and prices up as a resultLast edited by swampy; 06-01-2022 at 09:52 PM.

Hi Swampy,
Those are 15s. More common & easier to get than 14s. Other than BF Goodrich, unaware of 14s available with whitewall lettering in that size.

Does not help u now but at least your more aware of wider choice
yes I use the Nankang 15 inch version purchased on a road trip to Adelaide.
**** NB these tyres are available in ALL capital cities BUT Availability was patchy at times . Nankangs were unavailable 2-3 yr ago for 6 mths on the eastern coast
Nankang and Galaxy are reasonable brands and are being kept in greater numbers now for "Old school applications says NankangLast edited by swampy; 07-01-2022 at 06:34 PM.

Is it me or is second hand getting expensive?
Another example and reminder at least for me anyway, of how times have changed and the price of chrome bumper Holdens have rocketed up. I bought my Monaro in a similar state to the one below but mine was in undercoat ready to block back and top coat with all the interior in place. If it had a motor and gearbox I could have driven it home. There were parts in the boot but it was mostly trim. I paid $2000. The one below asking price is $60,000. I literally could have bought it in its undercoat and no engine and gearbox condition, done nothing but store it for 24 years to see its value go up 2900%. No idea what it’s worth now but it’s certainly happy days for Holden chrome bumper owners. Mucho dinero.

hi
As with many Holdens its a parts car, rolling shell has nothing !
A body shell that needs all parts and to be chemically dipped , fool who pays the price .

In standard form they are the same as far as critical dimensions are concerned. Given the age of these engines you're unlikely to know the full history of them so you'll need to measure things...
