Changing direction. Dyno time only. All those things you say when a few beers with mates after a car meet they talk you into going Holley Sniper or full LS turbo so you sell of all the kit you just bought for a sbc or 355 build for brand new cost. Either that or FOMO has got you.

There is a Door skin on Facey
$1650 , and the Ad states " Keep your stupid comments to yourself"
If it was a good buy, why would people put up stupid comments...??

    Hi
ID plates are only good if u have the original vehicles numbers if not your doing an illegal clone car if using some one elses numbers . Need matching engine/chassis number. But at least in the RTA dept. the records are very poor and I doubt Holden records are any better so new ID plates have limited value .

I would assume it is highly illegal.
I have been told that no ID plates should ever be removed off the car even if doing a restoration.

Years ago I got a dressing down from a Vic Roads inspector when re-registering that noticed the new rivets I had in mine. Said exactly what you said. I removed them for painting purposes on a HG Premier I painted.

    hi
Its fine to remove for crash damage /paint . RTA mostly don`t have a clue how the real world functions . RTA looks at paint and panel as interference when the ID plates are removed DOH .
RTA still has different mod rules state to state when this is already covered by a vsb plate!!
A nine inch does not require a mod plate my Strange unit is still a banjo unit with factory mounts [just an aftermarket version ] .Aftermarket engine blocks do not need to meet emission standards even thou they might be an LS or what do do about a hybrid gen 1 with Ls HEADS.

Emissions must follow the chassis but if its a later model motor it must meet the later emmission spec . Contrary to previous rules .
Oh yea some vehicles need to be registered twice with the RTA. go figure ....

Exactly what happens when lawyers get involved .

Maybe I am over reacting but this gets my blood boiling.

A nice Hatchback Torana, nice not great. Seen a far better one recently at a car meet. This one is what the purist would call ruined with a sbc, Tremec and 9”. Nothing spectacular and asking price of $165k

I am almost warming to these prices for factory genuine mint classics but not a run of the mill average modified Torana, hatchback or not. The investment in the modifications of this car doesn’t justify the asking price as it no longer has the value of a genuine SS hatch.

I realize the flip side is those owning old Holdens are having the values go through the roof. But I see it pricing people out of the market and our pastime may fizzle and die when only the rich collectors and investors can afford them. If we all sold our cars for this kind of coin who would buy them and how would they use them? Any thoughts I had of starting a new build are washed away as I’m not prepared to fork out tens of thousands for piles of rust as a starting point.

    hi
Rust has no value unless its a one of . But in ozzy it does . Money hungry thieves . = ebay

A good factory stock original fully optioned is worth the same amount as a properly modified one approx.
The key is here is to have a fully stock drivetrain in good condition to sell with the modified car Or reinstall the stock driveline and sell the modified one completely separate .

The important factor I believe is not to permanently modify the body but thats my own opinion . Remember the "'kmart cars "" of the eighties every old car was destroyed by sh.t mods.

    But wait, there’s more!

Another hatch the same color and all except Holden V8, TH400 and 9” and Convo pro’s

    $112k

So I am interested in opinions as to where we are headed with these Holden steel bumper prices. In the early 2000’s the housing market exploded and continues to escalate to the point of mean prices approaching a cool 1M in Melbourne. That’s housing. We all need somewhere to live. This is old cars, a luxury not necessity.

Will we get to a point where nobody can afford so nobody wants them?

Or will the market regulate and crash back to values that see them as an attractive purchase to buy and enjoy as intended?
