What if this was your mates car that you said you would buy when he wanted to sell. He’s ready to sell to you and he’s asking $20,000?

Is it me or is second hand getting expensive?
No, don’t know who owns it. It was a hypothetical in response to Geoff’s comment. Just thought three things when I seen it. That’s a different build, don’t see bonnets like that everyday and that’s a bit of coin for a car that’s not that neat with that damage. Someone will snap it up though that’s looking for something different for a project start.
Wonder if the owner noticed the scratch on the passengers side.

But wait, there is more.....
It’s a nice looking factory 6 cylinder car, but not for that money....

Nice. Wouldn’t mind that as a daily driver. And only 79 on it.
Bought the wife a VF series 2 SV6 sport wagon about 3 years ago for 23k so that backs up what your saying about 20k for v6. That’s my yardstick of how much car can be got for 20k for a daily driver. That and what you picked up.
Was lucky enough to get the in-laws VZ V8 fully optioned Calais with 75k on the clock for $8,000 about 6-7 years ago. That’s my daily driver now. Wonder what it’s worth now? Probably not much more than that.

Slightly off topic, but might be of interest; the car I was referring to in post #45 was my 1961 Dodge. I had owned it for 16 yrs, from 1970 to 1986; wanted a change. I wanted $10k for it & friends suddenly disappeared.....
I advertised it for $5k without the engine & $10k with the engine. [ The engine was a 523 stroker I built in the early 80s, long before stroker kits were available & I wanted to keep the engine ].
I was lucky. I got the $10k & the buyer made no attempt to beat me down on price.

This morning I have been convinced VK owners have got together and decided VK’s are now worth in the $30k’s.
Below asking $38,000

I seriously considered a VF SV6 sportwagon but after a timing chain failure on our old family VZ wagon I'm not keen on another 3.6. Depending on who you talk to some say the issue was fixed by the time VF came around while others say all the V6s are prone to it.
Really happy with what I got though, it's a really nice car to drive. Just got to resist the temptation to ruin it by modifying it lol.

So guys,
What would an 82 C'Dore be worth?
97k km; 6 cyl, Traumatic trans, recently rebuilt. Been in one family it's whole life. Always garaged, full rego, rarely driven these days. No rust.

At least 10 grand.
I just sold a VK 4cyl manual, 160km, no rust, good cerulean interior, (great GPA replica donor) mint bumpers, original paint virtually completely faded off, drove nice, for 6k. Paid 3k for it a few years back. Woulda kept it if I had the space. Went like a hot cake. Should have asked more.Last edited by RedTaxi; 28-12-2020 at 09:18 PM.

Is it me or is second hand getting expensive?
So guys a more serious question. Answers may depend on taste.
You have come into a crap load of money and decided to spend at least $68,000 investing in a new set of wheels. You have the choice of the three Holdens below. First is a GTS tribute with 5ltr injected engine. Second is a full resto HZ but done as a HX GTS with 253 and the third is the blue VL turbo. Nice neat car but not fully original as the rear tires are Mickey Thompson, the shifter is a give away and there is a dyno print out showing about 230rwkw. All three between $60 and $68k.
Two other options are the last two cars. HG Monaro no engine or gearbox and needs some work or the white VL a going concern 550hp done quarter mile in the 10s. Both $50,000
What would you invest your cash in and why?
