Default 308 rebuild to suit ski boat

Gday guys new to the forum but from what Iíve already read there is a lot of good info but what I am chasing is some info on rebuilding a 308 for a ski boat.i am after some info on what compression ratio pistons/type and brand and camshaft specs and set up. As it is in a ski boat I would want good down low power for pulling skiers and would probably rev up towards 5000rpm.The engine was sitting in a boat that was full of water but internals all see, ok.also what Carbys would suit as Iíve heard the quadrajet is good but tricky to tune.any other info from anyone would be greatly appreciated

Stock rebuild will do what you want. Flat top pistons and a mild cam would be a nice upgrade and if you are buying both and wouldn't cost any more. 600 holley is the basic cheapest go to for a carb, on a 4 barrel manifold. Raw water or heat exchanger cooling? If the former, look for corrosion in intake manifold and block if it was used in salt water. Especially with an aluminum intake.
