Alrighty so i think its a good time to make a bit of a plan, lay out the $$$ because i seem to be a bit all over the place about what i want and the budget so lets figure out what its going to cost to get this thing to powercruise again with a bit more full race drag power for da boyzz
I'm mindful that the prices may be a little off.
Powercruise brisbane entry with camper - $200 (earlybird)
Trailer - $300
E85 - $200
Proper Headers - $600
Bullet mufflers + 24" of pipe + flanges - $300
New seats cut and heads misc whatever HPEpete secrecy - $400 (i'll do the porting myself)
1 x MLS to split into 2, 4.035 bore - $170
New axle (passenger side twisting at the splines, not broken yet) - $400??
TH400 5500rpm converter - $1500?? no clue, definitely needs something better than a stocko. willing to splurge on full staunch - high STR, hi stall goodness.
Oiling mods - $100 for speedflow hose in valley and some courage (not priority mains, i'll do the other one, you guys know the one, the easy half assed one)
Main + Rod Bearings (i'll see what they look like when i tear it down though) - $120
Carb setup for combo by zok - $??? Whatever it costs to convert it back from Blow through to aspirated, jets and PV are all weird, im out of my depth.. definitely needs the magic wand.
Comb for mullet - $5
Flanno - $15
Stubbies - $10
Total: $4290 (without carb in there)
Per week (34 weeks): $126
Given that theres still 8 good months to go if something like a TP or harrop comes up 2nd hand for good $ i'll jump on it, same goes for converters and headers and mufflers and flannos i dont care too much if they're second hand - any improvement in these areas will be better than nothing, and cheaper.
I suppose the goal would be to be able to skid top gear.. and generally have a bit of fun and try to dust up a few of the ls1 boys in their land barges. i dont really know actually, the combo is so mis matched at the moment im keen to see how much more stall, compression, intake + head flow and carby tuning will do to it... It just needs to have that holden soundand more power..
i've got my mitts on some skinny 165mm wide tyres (off a toyota scarlet, 15" fitted to some stockies) to assist with skids. Stretched as. i'll wack a photo up once this 2nd burnout vid has finished uploading. roughly 1" of sidewall
Im about to move so i'm putting off ripping the heads till im settled in the new joint. (bigger garage farken) But step one is get the engine out and have a look see whats going on in there. It'll be a good gauge on how these bearings have held up, they were brand new. Did 2 burnouts and some "cruising" so i don't know how they'll be, we shall see, i'll post pics for you guys.
Oh and i have a 4150 nitrous kit sitting here looking at me but honestly thats probably another $700 once thats all plumbed up with extra fuel system etc (current holley black probably wouldn't keep up supplying carb and nitrous at 6psi, and nitrous kit is missing supply lines for solenoids at $50 a pop)
Does anyone have the spare moneys? i'll do things for it

I don't think you need mufflers for PC could be extra savings there and tyres old ones don't smoke up as good, if its to small less smoke, I wanted to try 195/60/15 there cheaper, with right tyre place should get them for less then $50 A piece or get re-treads there are still available, extra pressure above 60PSI helps if its hard to spin them on a hot burnout pad!

Yeah i hear what you're saying, bullet mufflers would be nice though.. open headers start to sh1t me after about the 2nd day. Does turn heads though :P
And yeah i struggled to spin the 205's in top gear at 25psi (tyre pressure not boost obviously), i'll deffs pump the bejeezus out of them beforehand this time - good tip.

Good that you have a plan mate. I usually got to add 10 to 20% on top of the budget. Alot of little things add up. Good luck with it!

I know what your on about with the pipes, because I ended up fitting x2 small 2 1/2 9inch long resonators with 3" dropies on the end, I got sick of the raspy sound and the neighbors would of complained. Still sounded sicko and more deeper.
Tyre pressure will need adjusting to suit your combo!SA AUTO TEK

mmkay so heres some pics of the car
After this shot i got all excited with the pool noodle on the cage after reading powercruise rules - get to powercruise, old mate checks the battery is mounted and the brake lights work and says have a nice day.

Heres the dirty interior, speedo isnt hooked up currently after changing from trimatic to th400.
Keen eyes will spot the transbrake on the end of 6 foot of cable. At the moment the poor thing won't even skid without using it to get the tyres going. (starting to think it was due to carby being piggggggggg rich on part throttle, basically dies)

Speaking of burnouts i need to upload the video of the second one we did, its an incar one and theres lots to dissect from it, keen to hear everyones opinions. (car carries on like a $2 watch the whole way through, you get to see and hear the dodgyness on the transbrake (poor stock converter), after a short skid it finally splutters to an embarassing end in the middle of the pad. get towed off, 20 mins later it fires right back up. kill me. and yes the tank was full of fuel.)
And these are the tyres i was talking about earlier, have yet to try them out.
Looking at them it could be like going from a 4.11 to a 5.something diff gear. Relying on my precision eyeball tyre height calculations.
