    Default Too much torque

Is there such thing as too much torque for a street car or 4wd?

I was reading an article online where a guy had a blueprint 598bbc short block put some standard chevy heads on with a baby baby cam And this thing made 700ft lb at 3000rpm... and a total of 550hp at 4700 off memory...

Like what would that even be like to drive?

Yes its stupid... A 598 you need to KILL off bottom end, well you can try... The cam needs to be HUGE, and so do the heads.. It will rev up slow too because its choked..

A decent 355 that makes 550HP will destroy it over the quarter and on the street...

Needs 360-385cc heads cam needs to be 285/305 and lift upwards of .800...

I think anyone who would do this is an idiot lol...

Sounds like it would be perfect for an 80 series cruiser haha. Don't have a horse float but theres a bright green 2j gemini in my mates shed that all of a sudden requires a Big block tow car

I will say YES to your original question.
Too much torque down low and you can't cut into traffic quickly (wheel spin) unless you spend a fortune on tyres.
4wd would be better than rwd though.

It might have TQ at low RPM but so does a diesel, and my diesel revs up so slow its not funny and thats what this deal would be, the same... No point in TQ if you cant get up to RPM quickly... Those heads would be well in choke by 4000RPM..

I've also seen the bigger stuff 540+ done properly trying to drive on the street, even with big 380cc heads, single planes, big cams 280+ duration they are still like roller skates on ice...

hell it don't take massive cubes. a N/A 11 second car on the street can be skaty.

i know mine on normal street tyres even with the big converter softening things up if u hit the throttle to even less than half to move off quick will have you going no where fast

My mate has supercharged 500 cube hemis driving around in hot rods that weigh 2600LBS... You cant push it on the street or you'll end up in a ditch, jail cell, or a hospital bed..
