Any head bolt that goes into the block that contacts water requires some type of sealant (I use the old faithful Holden stuff in a can)
In regards to inlet manifold gaskets, definitely sealant for the areas around the water jackets (head to inlet manifold). Some people use a very light smear around each port.
Use a nice bead of high temp silicone front and back of block (block to inlet manifold) and bin those pesky cork gaskets that come in the kit.

    hi
Holden gasket cement Known as Holden head stud sealer .
Intake gasket around all intake and water ports Permatex aviation goo non hardening sealer .

When any cork is used on an engine it MUST BE soaked and have the head stud sealer pushed into the cork . Cork is porous and the sealer stops oil going thru the gasket.

    Head studs:

    Inlet manifold gaskets:

Front & Back of block instead of those pesky cork gaskets: Note: put a little bit of silicone each side of the inlet manifold gaskets where they meet your ‘silicone bead’ that replaced the cork gaskets.

I normally use permatex high temp silicon (grey in color) but I grabbed this Wurth stuff from work for my brothers engine. It worked well.
