    Default Motor Trend on Demand

Anybody use Motor Trend on Demand?

I've been watching the Roadkill, Roadkill Garage and Engine Masters series (so far). Unfortunately geo-blocking means we can't get access to F1 or the Supertaxi's stuff (not that there is much to miss there).

Ha yes love these series, unfortunately now have to wait longer for updates, unless one creates a Amazon account.

Several people re stream all the on demand shows via you tube. Poor quality though.

I subscribe to a VPN service to get around geo restrictions. I've been toying with the idea of signing up for their free trial to check out roadkill garage. Problem is I'll probably like it and get sucked into it & end up paying to subscribe...

I used it for a couple months but poor bang for buck, by the time currency conversion goes through along with fees it costs closer to $10/month. Roadkill Garage and possibly one other thing(?) are the only extras worth watching for me so you're really only paying for one or two shows per month.

I've seen every free episode on youtube, I can't justify signing up to Motor Trend. There's bound to be more free content out there for car enthusiasts if you look around. A recent favourite of mine is Home Built by Jeff, he's building a Porsche and literally does everything on the car himself, it's good viewing for people who like to give things a go.

Fortunately my boy subscribed so I piggyback of his subscription

Roadkill garage is quiet good as it shows what gets done to the various Roadkill cars between episodes.

Ah yes and Engine masters is a good one for what engine mods give best results for money spent.

    Well, shafted again.

I re-subscribed to this a short while ago when they suddenly decided that they are no longer using Youtube at all. The price had been reduced a little, presumably to encourage uptake or maybe because we can't watch most of the other content outside the US. They claim its still available free, but it isn't.

They charged my credit card yesterday for May subscription, then this morning I get an email saying that the entire service is no longer available in New Zealand. Says that I will no longer be charged after May 30 so I figured I'd better get in and watch the latest before that happens. But its been disabled immediately! Charged for a month of service I can't use, brilliant.

Its all a load of crap that they can't offer it here too.

Yep, it was disabled yesterday, I emailed yesterday to complain and got he same answer as you.

VPN it is and they wonder why people pirate shit on the net, well we tried to be legit and when that doesn't work....

I bet they are getting a lot of hate mail at present. I finally got my refund and cancelled my account.

Obviously they've double-sold the rights without notice, probably find that Sky or Netflix will start showing old episodes at some stage. Everyone knew it was coming I guess, its just extra frustrating because they kept insisting they weren't going to sell out.

Its ridiculous that so many media companies are going this way and making it near-impossible for consumers to pay for the content. They wonder why people take the easy way (which involves no money for the creators).

Just back to geo-blocking problems generally, I occasionally use Tor Browser to find out what I might be missing.

Don't use it for logging into your bank accounts though as, to the bank, it will look like you have logged in from a different part of the world each time and they eventually concludes that this is physically impossible and flagged as dodgy.
