summernats 30
hey guys n girls hows it going.
i just want to start but saying my heart goes out to the friends and family of the gentle man who fell off the back of the ute.
no one should on a awsome ecent like that.
does anyone know what actually happened?
im not trying to be rude and i dont want to insult anyone just curious and the news simply saying he fell off a ute doesnt really say much.
i appologise if i offend anyone its just i asked a couple people who went and they are acting like its Confidential and a matter of national security which i think is BS. the people the public have the right to know.
again my heart goes out to the friends and family.growing old is inevitable, growing up is optional

id say old mate driving gave it a bit when the guy wasnt ready. He fell off and hit his head, simple as that. However it will be the end of any cruising in the back of utes permanently id say.

talking to a couple of people aparantly the story goes it was a flat tray 1 tonner and the driven stabbed the throttle going around the corner in cruise sesh (with no intention of skidding) and yeah the bloke who was also drunk fell off the back and landed on his head.
i think if anything they will probably ban riding on flat try utes.

He was on the back of a flat tray ford jailbar ratrod with an xr6 turbo in it. They already stopped people riding in the back of ANY ute not just flat tray utes.

I didn't witness the incident but did read something on Facebook that I really hope wasn't the truth. It has since been removed.
I would say there is a reason everyone has been quiet about it and even if you read the Summernats press release it is vaguely worded at best.
There will be a Coroners Inquiry and I'm sure in due course the truth will come out.

The show is a joke no respect for cars women and or safety its time is done in my honest opinion.

I think its a tragic accident, no more or less, why would there need to be ban on riding in the back of utes at the event just because 1 unlucky fella dies doing it, the first in 30 years, plenty of kids have died or been very serious injured in the last few years playing rugby league, no talk of banning that, what about cricket, or f-ing rides at Dreamworld...? I'm sick of the double standard when it comes to car events.
I didn't go this year but haven't missed many of the last 20 odd, I think the event is much more tame than it used to be.

Lol why does it matter how he died, why do you want to know? Bit weird. Do you want a video? Pics?
Its 2016 how you can still ride in the back of a ute at a show is beyond me. Before you jump down my throat, how does the summernats insurance even cover that. Guys standing next to cars doing burnouts etc etc was only a matter of time.
My mate fell off back of a 4wd been a dick at a party and nearly died fractured his skull doesn't take much!Munch munch turbo for lunch

i think i may have read something similar to what your implying struggler, one can only hope not!
as you say vsssute, shocked it has taken 30 years for an accident this bad to happen, we lost a mate a few years ago who fell out the back of a ute getting a ride home from the pub - it just happens to easily.
i'd personally like to see summernats move in a similar direction as red-centre nats - more about the cars and family, less about the pissed deros

The worst that can happen is a no seat/belt no ride policy is implemented via coroner recommendations.
The nats wont be shut down. Knickers need not be twisted.

That nats is actually surprisingly tame these days; apart from Tuff Street! There they all congregate and it's still pretty wild. Everywhere else it's much like any other car show/meeting, just on a larger scale.
