Default Hosting and posting images with Photobucket...

    Hi all,

Thought I'd do a quick "How-To" on hosting images with Photobucket and how to get the images out of PB and into a post...

Well, firstly you'll need to sign up to Photobucket, or if you already are a user - sign in...

Once you've signed in, you will be presented by this screen...

Click the "Upload Images and Videos" button, and a window should pop-up where you can select photos/images stored on your computer. As is says, Hold "CTRL" while clicking images from your desired folder and you can select multiple images to upload at once (wouldn't do more than 5 or so though, sometimes it crashes if you try to do more than 5 at a time...)

    Then press "Open"

You will then be presented wil the upload/status screen:

Then it will automatically load your gallery, and your freshly-loaded images should appear...

Wave the mouse pointer over the image, and a small drop-down menu with four options should appear, move the mouse down over it and click on white area at the bottom of the four options:

Theoretically it should automatically "copy" the link, but it often doesn't, so I press CTRL+C just to be sure it copies...

Then swap tabs/windows back to AV8, and either start a new thread or post.

Then simply paste the links (either right-click the mouse and click "Paste" or click on the text box where you type your post and press CTRL+V) in the order you wish them to appear (like so...).

As a courtesy to others, it is generally advisable at this point to press "Preview Post" to make sure the links have copied correctly, and you have actually posted the pictures you intended too (believe me it is easy to double-up on one image or skip another...).

Once that is done and you are satisfied that you have the right images appearing in the right order, press "Submit New Thread" or "Submit New Post" and you're as good as done.

You can post up to 10 images in each post, but please try to remember that not everyone runs super-fast internet, so try to keep images to a minimum if possible (this obviously does not apply in the Images and Videos section! )

    Excellent article Beeb.

For those of you who just want an image up here, and you don't need to track it, or keep it in an album then check out imgur: the simple image sharer

...But has a nasty habit of trying to infect poorly protected computers with trillions of viruses even when you're just trying to view someone's images. I avoid it like the plague even though my computer has moderate defences in place...

Here's a quick run through for how to add and upload your photos to Photobucket and post them from your iPhone...

First install the photobucket app to your iphone from the app store (it's a freebie)..

Now open the app and touch the upload tab at the bottom of the screen...

Then press "choose existing to open the photos on your phone and select the location of your photos ("Camera Roll" is the folder that photos taken by your phone are stored)..

After selecting the folder you should have the list of all your photos, touch the photos you want to upload and a small "+" sign should apear on the corner. To unselect just touch the photo again..

when you have finished selecting your photos to upload touch the "Upload" button at the top to begin the transfer, a progress screen should now open as the data is uploaded..

After all your photos are uploaded touch the "Album" tab at the bottom of the screen to view all the photos in your Photobucket account..(If the new photos aren't there click the refresh button (the circle arrow) at the top right of the screen)

click on the photo that you want to post to your thread and it should open in full screen view..

Now click the "i" icon at the bottom right of the screen to display the image addresses...

Click the BOTTOM address "IMG code" (just a touch you don't need to touch and hold) and a message should appear to tell you it has been copied..

Right, now to post in a thread it's as simple as touching and holding your finger in the "Quick Reply" text box on the thread you're using until the "Paste" selection is shown...

Then touch the paste button and it should paste the adress for the photo and look something like this..

Click the "Post Quick Reply" tab and TADA! your photo is posted!

    Hope this helps!

    Hi all
I follow beebs instructions to the letter and am able to post pics in my threads no worries.
The problem I do have is that they are always small. Everyone else seems to have big ones except me (I am talking photos).
Am I missing a setting somewhere???
    Cheers

What size megapixel camera are you using?.. I think that size relates to photo quality..but I may be wrong.. Are you taking them with your phone? if so what model phone is it?..

No mate. Taking them with a 8 mega-pixel Sony camera.
I've looked all over the Photobucket site for any info but no help.

Looks like you might have 320 x 240 selected as your upload size..

Just check the size that you are posting..

Then check that this box is selected...

    For Mobile..

click the settings tab at the bottom, then the "upload >" tab

    then "image size"

    and select size...

    Hopefully solves the problem...

I thought I'd bump this for fairly obvious reasons and it's happening to everyone.

Going to make for really interesting archived build threads unless you can be ****ed repairing all your links with another host
