    Default You will not repair your car at home!!!! Fines apply

    Heard this today...

    Logan Council can apply $2-5K fines to anyone doing anything more than "basic" servicing of their vehicle in their private residence.

    This seems to be true, I heard the report on the radio today!

    A Logan City Council spokesperson said the Logan City Planning Scheme 2006, table 3.2.11 stated development ensures that a motor vehicle is not repaired on the premises, unless the repairs are day-to-day maintenance, and the vehicle is owned by the occupier of the premises and is normally parked on the premises for their use.

    "The use of the premises for an industrial use, namely vehicle repairs including panel beating, spray painting and repairs other than that of day to day maintenance is unlawful on a residential premise," the spokesperson said.

    "For day to day maintenance it is as detailed in any vehicle manual and is limited to checking oil, water, air and making minor repairs like changing a windscreen wiper or bulb to ensure the safe operation of a vehicle."

    The spokesperson said the Sustainable Planning Act 2009, which replaced the Integrated Planning Act 1997, has also empowered councils to issue penalty infringement notices (PIN) for specific offences as detailed in the Act.

    "While council does not issue fines in the first instance, show cause or enforcement notice procedure is followed and there is a specific offence for failing to comply with an enforcement notice which provides for PIN amounts of $2000 for an individual or $10,000 for a corporation," the spokesperson said.

    Whatever women do they must do twice as well as men to be thought half as good.
    Luckily, this is not difficult.

    Lucky for me. I live on the more "effluent" North side. We can do all this stuff no worries...I will be keeping my garage door firmly closed.

    Wonder if I could manufacture a "Silenced" grinder for stealthy private use?

    Yeah, sneak over in the dead of night and lower their car...next morning they are dragged away kicking and screaming by the police never to be seen again.

    About to move into said council territory and the house we are buying, specifically bought because the shed offers opportunity to do the "industrial" work they claim can't be done.

    Glad the shed is at the rear of the property nowhere near the street/neighbours/sticky beaks.

    Hmmm Steve,

    "Effluent" side ...... or "affluent" side - just checking

    affluent
    adj : having an abundant supply of money or possessions of value;
    "an affluent banker"; "a speculator flush with cash";
    "not merely rich but loaded"; "moneyed aristocrats";
    "wealthy corporations" [syn: flush, loaded, moneyed,
    wealthy]
    n 1: an affluent person; a person who is financially well off;
    "the so-called emerging affluents"

    Effluent in the artificial sense is generally considered to be water pollution, such as the outflow from a sewage treatment facility or the wastewater discharge from industrial facilities.

    As for the silenced grinder - I have the plans here for making silencers .... genuine US Army instructions ..... used to make heaps of them for "other" things ......

    :-)
