    Default Justins VH SL/E

Thought id finally share some pics of my car on here.

Basic rundown of how it stands now
    1982 VH SL/E
    355 SFT
    VN heads
    TP Single
    750 Demon
    Pacemaker 5700's
    Twin 3" pipes
    TH350 with 4500 stall
    3.55 geared 10 Bolt Salisbury
Monroe GT Gas shockers all round
    King Springs
    16x8 B45 Simmons

Ill post pics from the point of when I bought to now

These next two pics are of when the previous owner had it in his driveway
    With a 308, trimatic and 8 bolt

I kept it in the above condition for about 3-4 months and then proceeded to replace all the blacked out chrome bumpers and trims around the windows with refirbed chrome ones, a couple of badges and my simmons ive had since 1999 on my first car (vk calais).
After 6 months I had the exterior to a point where I was happy
I then started to do a 5.0 conversion with the TH350 behind it.

Then after 2yrs of driving the 5.0 I got tired of the lack of power and really wanted to go carby again and built a 355 that ive always wanted since I was 16. I removed the 5.0 and sold it complete with wiring and ecu.

I then started to purchase the block, heads, manifold ect to get this build rolling whilst busting my arse at work doing 60-70 hrs a week to get spare $$$$ to build it, mortgage kids wife make it almost impossible to do as priorities are higher elsewhere.
Anyway i had the bottom end machined and assembled by a shop in Bris then i passed the heads over to Pete to port and assemble with new everything, i then bolted the rest of it together and then finally dyno tuned by Zoran once in the car....took about 8months to build with every part brand new except for the block and the bare heads.

Below I won this trophy due to my 2 kids egging me on to take and enter my car into a show......theyre only 7 and 8 and love old school car/hotrod shows.
I usuall prefer to enjoy other peoples cars and have never considered to enter mine....but that day i thought what the hell!
It was for "best modified 1980-1990" bracket.

I have a few vids and more pics but the thread only allowed me to post 10 pics.

    Thanks for looking!!!!

    Very nice mate
Well done on the trophy too, you just never know if you don't give it a go.
The old school Simmons suit the early girls so well.

you've certainly transformed a rather average looking car into something special

Thanks mate, it was a complete surprise to win it and not really something i was aiming to achieve haha.

I've had those Simmons since 99 and have put them on my vk calais, vs ss and now my vh....theres just something about them that makes me keep them. It's probably the fact that there arent many suitable wheels for my taste, i cant stand big wheels on old cars.

The VH looks awesome Justin, engine bay looks so much better with the single plane and carby rather then the injection.

Nicely done, between this and ynot8's SS it makes me want to go and build a 1st gen Commodore.

    nor I
hence my persistence in sticking with my 16's.
And as such I pay a fortune for decent tyres (I can buy the same tyres in 17 or 18's cheaper) and had a hell of time finding a 330mm brake setup that would fit inside the wheels.
But they look the part! Having said that, I may end up with a set of 17's wheels/tyres for track duties purely because 17 inch tyres are cheaper

I don't mind 17's on the early girl Commodores but no bigger for sure. I did like the look of mine with the old 15's as well, regret trading those wheels

Thanks for all the kind words guys.....I appreciate it and makes me wana get out in the garage and tinker some more but im stuck on what to do to it....except enjoy and drive it!!

A quick shot of the engine all cleaned up after doing a cam swap earlier this year....painted the rocker covers black too, makes it easier to keep clean as opposed to the polished look
