I am currently running. Has also had a couple of outings this year (at both CAMS multiclub and a Tampered day)
so it gets the once over (safety check, oil leaks, etc). Needs new rocker covers gaskets (LH is leaking)
and I lost the heat wrap from around the starter motor so that need replacing ....

Smitty, how restricted is the class in terms of extractor design?

.. not at all, rules these days are pretty relaxed for Club level events
(although they are tighter for State or National race events)

    they are basically -
-Street car (regs for that is pretty obvious)
-Improved Production (or Modified) which I run in
(car is log booked under CAMS category 3J- Improved Production)
-Race car (this inc sports sedan etc)

Full rules are in the CAMS handbook but Improved production has some simple rules
brakes, suspension are free (although they must replicate what the manufacturer did)
Stripped interiors allowed as are ROPS, engine from same manufacturer and firewall cannot be touched
otherwise mods are pretty free, max 17" wheel (slicks or R rubber) and.. thats about it

    Hey Smitty,

Did you use the Suspension Concepts conversion kit in your coilovers?

    Cheers

    Thanks much bud.

What kind of Bilstein shock did you use with the 7 inch spring setup? Is it shorter than usual or OE specification?

Do you still have any perch adjustment left to go lower with your car sitting as is?

    Cheers

Bilstein do two front strut/shockers for the front, I just chose the 'short shock'
    version which works perfectly

current settings allow for a further 30mm drop in collar height....
but dont forget you can also get springs in different lengths
(180mm,200mm etc.) so you can play with ride heights
    that way as well

Sweetness. Yeah reason I ask is a mate literally just gave me a brand new set of 7 inch 450lbs (talk about a stroke of fortune! Not that they're expensive to buy, but the correct firmness and usable length is win)

Otherwise I was going to ask the same thing - why you didn't use a longer spring instead of the tender.

Really perfected that hand-made strut, your rig sits perfectly! And I'll bet handles a treat.

Rosejointed tie rod ends as well?

You guys are legends, appreciate the insight!

conrod0, that is a gorgeous job. Heasman's here in NSW quoted me $3,300 to knock up a pair of Billie struts, and for that price I would expect nothing less than a result of that quality.

Should get out of making mine for around $12, $1300.

    should only cost you $1200-1300

that is what mine cost INCLUDING the Bilstein inserts
and the cutting down of the OEM tube at a local machine shop
(NO.. I did not use a hacksaw )
