Default What Manual Trans for a 308 in an HQ?

Well, I'm looking for a new transmission for a 308 in an HQ ute. at the moment the 308 will be stock to mild, but I eventually want to build a decent HP 355 Stroker -eventually- when the funds permit at least a few years away, I really want a manual if I can stay manual, I was thinking of just getting a referb/rebuilt Aussie 4 Speed for under $1k and keeping it GMH but I've heard these might not be able to handle much in terms of power (what HP and Torque can it take?), what other options are there, preferably relatively cheap and also not difficult to swap into the tonner with preferably zero but maybe minimal tunnel mods? I'm wanting to put buckets and a factory HJ-HZ-HX center console into the Q, so If it can also meet up with the factory holes/shift location that would be prefered.
    Thanks

What box do you have? Assuming aussie 4-speed. They will only last behind a decent stroker if you only cruise. Skids or drag strip forget it. What you really want is a Tremec TKO or Toyota R154. Neither are cheap and I'm unsure what tunnel mods would be required.

You could stay four speed with a Muncie or Super T10, would require little to no tunnel mods if you tweak the shift rods and will handle some torque.

I would go the Muncie.. parts are plentiful and it is a bolt in basically (remember Muncies went into 2 and 4 door Q Munros)
SuperT10s are ok but you have to go the Richmond route is you want parts

I hadn't thought of the Muncie. I grafted one to a 308 many years ago. It was a good thing.

Tko does not need major tunnel mods and fits in normal console no probs. I think i had to remove the neutral switch on the box and make a plug.

Best part is 5th gear plus the strength of them but cost is up there
No shift linkages either did i mention how much i hate linkages...

GM version will use same bellhousing as muncie and the ford version same as top loader.

26spline input on both are same as t56 etc

Speedo cable on both is top loader gear box output to holden.
