    Default 355 no longer starting

I have a 355 with trimatic, 750 dp holley and ICE ignition. Put together about 1000km ago. Went for a cruise after fueling up and after about 5 kms, slightest touch to accelerator would stall engine. Fired back up, change to drive and stall.

Managed to limp it back home, while on brink of stalling each time while gently accelerating. Now can't get the turd to fire up. Won't even cough or splutter. Any ideas.

First call should be to ICE and see if they can help.

Could be long and tedious finding this gremlin.

I have 6.5psi on fuel gauge when ignition on and fuel is filling in bowls. Can hear the fuel pump running also. Jets squirting fuel in carb.

I connected a spark tester to one of the leads and getting blue spark between lead and plug (will check them all next weekend).

Took out plugs and replaced with new plugs of the same type. Old ones were dark and had slight fuel residue on them. Likely from trying to crank when troubleshooting. Would that be signs of not enough spark at plugs?

As mentioned earlier may have to investigate ICE system closer.

Check timing hasn't slipped ie heaps retarded from where it is supposed to be.

I actually meant the quality of the fuel - water in fuel etc.

@willie drained the tank and put fresh BP ultimate in it.

@paulzig when issue started occurring i could idle in park. When putting it in drive it was struggling to stay running until i finally got a bit of speed to keep revs up (over 5km/h), and giving it a squirt was no issue.

@toerag you raised a good point. Appears fuel is good and i have spark, just not lined up.

I had exactly the same symptoms with a veeeeery expensive Jacobs ign coil. Engine died. Would not start. Nice blue spark while cranking. Replaced EVERYTHING else except the coil. Still would not start. Fitted another coil in exasperation & fired up straight away...

i also keep a spare coil for the same reason...

Paulzig yes it would idle in park, however putting into drive would struggle to stay running until getting to a slow crawl. Once driving was fine and giving squirt was fine.

I'm not convinced it is the coil.
