Default 355 early headed street combo

its been awhile since ive been on here we have been setting our new shop for the past 8months or so, but anyways we just completed this nice little mild street combo specs:
    355
    10.8 comp
    234 @050, f/t hyd, 550lift, 109 lobe sep
early hq heads, 225cfm, 194 valve
    performer manifold, 1in spacer
    770 vac
    98 fuel
    tremec manual
    3.7 gears
    388rwhp @6,150rpm, pulls through to 6500rpm
very torquey had to really strap it down wanted to smoke the rollers, haha
super drivable combo, should go well at the track
would love to see ported stripmaster on this
still love the early headed stuff

only tested on 98, not a fan of 95 myself, effective cylinder pressures are quite high still even though static 10.80 comp

    Hi
cranking and dynamic compression would be expected to be highish considering 234 cam and 10.8ststic comp. Any idea of the cranking pressure in psi ???

Sounds like a solid combo using HQ heads with 1.94 intake valve and the performer manifold with that mild hydraulic flat tappet cam.
If the cam an off the shelf item or custom grind?

    Hi Paul,
we get our custom cams from crow, just dynoed my 355 HQ headed plastic. Solid flat, 98 oct. 534 hp at 7200 still had 526 at 7500 really happy. This is with our cnc heads straight off the machine, just blended the valve seat.
I just really like the early heads and they should power my VK I am building ok I think.

Rod, those early cnc heads sound pretty good indeed. Are they fitted with a 1.94 or 2.02 inlet?
What sort of duration and lift cam to achieve that power with those early cnc heads? Thanks

    Hi 46,
1.94 intake, it takes a lot of fiddling on an early intake bowl to get it to work with a 2.020 valve. Cam specs are around 260's + I know it's a bit big for a streeter but I was after the hp number to get this VK to where I want it.
Plus it makes a great test bed for our product.
