Default Another 304 exhaust question (boosted)

Apologies if this has been asked 1000 times but a search hasn't shown up anything.

What exhaust set up and size would people suggest for a turbocharged 304 set up?

I've sold the vortech as a deal for a t04z and manifolds came up too good to pass up.

I have a 3" dump Pipe from the turbo, would a single 3" exhaust be the go? Power target is 400rwhp.

I'd love to see what people have done first hand as I know I'm not the first to boost an old 5L.

Are you going to run a cat convertor?

Being an old block and old car I don't plan to no. It has efi etc from a new car but I don't think I need to in my situation so I probably won't.

3 inch will do 400rwhp+ 3.5 will do 600rwhp+ even if its too small you can just add some more boost to get there. It can be too big contrary to popular belief. You want to think about transient spool rates (off to on boost).

Thanks mate, 4-450 rwhp is my target so it sounds like 3" will be perfect. Can you or anyone suggest mufflers and configuration? Do you need anything special for a turbo vs na?

The turbo will quieten the exhaust down lots, it takes a lot of energy out of the exhaust and is a huge restriction, so you may only need a single muffler and resonator to keep it on that borderline of nice to drive without it being too loud but still nice note.

That's what I'm after. I'd like the car to sound like a nice 8 but I want to take my kids in the car and ear muffs aren't desirable! I know a 3" on a na 304 is really loud and drones alot.
I was thinking of going 3" with a magna flow ofset muffler and a 12" hot dog or similar. I'm hoping that will be nice to hear but not hurt your ears/get the boys in blue angry.

a mates turbo 355. with a gtx 45 with its 4 inch dump & 4 inch single system. cat converter and twin mufflers at idle & drive isnt much louder than stock. and under power the turbo whistle is easily louder.

quite nice for crusing without the drone. and over 600RWHP
