Default VH commo tie Rod end brands??

Hello all, I'm replacing the tie rod ends on my P/steering rack in my VH and I'm after good brands. Rare spares sells them and there are a few different brands on eBay like protex and others I'm not sure about. It isn't a part I have replaced before so I don't know what brands are good or not can anyone help??

    Tom.

Many brake and steering shops sell/use the Protex brand.

I have one of their master cylinders fitted and works fine.

Holden for many years used TRW tie rod ends & ball joints and in my option they are the pick of them for quality. Iíve used a few cheap brands (Wasp, Protex, Road Safe) and all have lasted ok on a few cars Iíve had that bash around Melbourne suburbs and country Victorian roads.

    HI
TRW ONLY never used or ever will any of the cheap stuff. TRW was OEM at one stage . Poor quality joints go sloppy squeeky and have a short life . The same cheaper brands do brake parts DONOT use them either . There sizings are only approx. and boots are thinner etc etc .

    ...TRW ?
yeah well even the 'best' have problems. The first 25000 VB Commodores were all recalled to replace faulty TRW tie rod ends

TRW owned by ZF since 2015/16 or something like that.
Cant say I have ever personally had an issue with TRW products.

The first VB Commodores had more problems than just tie rod ends though......

    HI
Its what you get for when the wrong vehicle was chosen for the commo line up . WB was going tobe a candidate for commo as well but not chosen . A well sorted unit. I would suspect it might have been due to short lead design time eg design fault etc caused the tie rod fault .

The VH,K,L and the last couple of models were the best . Not my cuppa tea thou .

Looked after 150 cabs in the mid eighties 10,0000kms per mth . Trw , Super pro [now Fulcrum] , Mackay bushings and genuine were our main suppliers . Used Monroe or pedders shocks . Bendix blue/ metal kings and later the horrible green pads. With DBA discs . PBR brake bits . All these parts lasted way way longer than the cheap brands .

ain't that the truth... just a few I was involved in-
faulty brake masters (PBR paid mega $ for that fix)
cracking floors (the reinforcing was in the wrong place coz the body jig was wrong)
leaking aircon units (coz the engineers forgot our version was RHD and the drain was on TOP)

    Hi
Where I learnt of that was the donated WB Holdens re commodore rebadged delivered to Tafe college were I did apprentice training . There were several different versions . One unit was so plain I could have been a VB commo . It had a large amount of design ques from the vb commo .

Hey Smitty can you explain your version. huh...? you not know the Torana carline v Holden v VCar decision at GMH and the history of that?
