    Default advice for parts i aquired

    i saw a FB market place ad for an M20 for $50 and walked away paying $450 for a 308 and 304 engine aswell

    the parts i got are
    VN 304 engine less loom and Throttle body
    HT prefix turbo pattern 308 bare block
    HQ heads
    HZ heads
    HQ intakes
    turbo to tri spacer
    M20 6cyl box
    HZ 4sp shifter
    2x 308 cranks

    i want to put a 5l into my HX so not sure what i should use

    use the VN motor and buy the intake and extractors to suit
    or sell that and build the 308 and use HQ heads

    whats it worth to sell to so i get some more money for extra parts i need

    Well if you paid $450 for the VN engine alone you call it a good deal .. So I'd do the VN engine sell the rest.. You might end up with extra cash

    i checked it out last night and the pollution heads have much bigger valves and much bigger ports so thats a bonus, the early heads are painted yellow then red then orange but not yella terra's as have small valves, big heads came with a ported intake to match
    the red block is also stamped as a LX SS but its drilled as a turbo pattern so something is off there plus its dated jan 1976 while the engine number says its a late 77

    at this stage i'll just sell the HQ heads and matching intake and the 304 intake
    i'll store the rest for now and get the VN motor refreshed

    Assuming it's usable I would use the early block with the VN top end otherwise if you use the VN block you'll need to comply with VN emissions in the HX.

    there are ways around the emissions now, as replacement engines are hard to come by you can use a later or older engine of the same make, i had a HT 253 in an 83 VH commodore and a 97 304 with carb in the same car no issues for rego
