Not sure which converter your asking about. The converter you posted the picture of isn't really built from scratch over here anymore. Was common in the 80's and up to mid to late 90's.
The 245 body has kind of taken over in the 2500 to 4500 range for street cars, street /strip cars probably benefit more from a true 9" but you'll have to go to the states for a good one.
It's worth what someone is willing to pay for it, S/H I would think $650 with the re-work receipt would be top dollar. New I would guess about $850 or so.
It's difficult to put a dollar value on it as the converter companies have all been urging each other to raise their prices recently so the market is in a state of flux at the moment until it settles down again.
Me personally I have probably half a dozen or so of those lying around and I'll most likely end up scrapping them for parts.
I wouldn't hesitate putting an 8" in your wagon, it's what it needs. Don't know what your engine makes but with an 016 stator should go great.
You wont need a diode unless your thinking of hitting it with some spray.
3500 isn't even close IMHO unless your gonna use some spray, its still a very long way off N/A. Converter will make or break your car.

Hq368, do you supply or build convertors ? Im getting abit of peer pressure to throw some N20 at it haha, i spent some time calling some companys to get some prices on 4000-4500 , im not really sure what a diode does and what the diffrence between a forced induction and a n/a convertor is . I really want this engine to launch and be quite punchy, pulling gearboxs are crap so id rather do it right the first time , when i was speaking to a company about a stall they were saying with 3.55 gears and a larger 4500 rpm convertor im running a large risk of burning out the convertor at 100ish.??

I have built plenty of converters and still have a converter welder but it's not something I have the time to do. I am plenty busy enough with transmissions.
I can organise converters from here or the US and have done so for quite a few people on here.
If your seriously contemplating Nitrous, call pro torque. It might sound expensive at first but in the long run you'll save.
Diode is a one way clutch but not like the conventional ramp and roller or segment style commonly used in converters. Diode has spring loaded plates that lock onto the inner race and allow it to rotate in one direction only.
Ramp and roller can crack the outer race under high load which will cause total devastation and segment style can roll over on itself and cause its own problems.
The engine wants an 8" but it will show slip when you hit the spray. Not a big problem, street cars are a bit of a compromise.

Pro torque are in the states, you know your combo best and they arguably have the best nitrous converters going around.
Have a look at their page and see who uses thier converters, Joe also does a lot of seminars so you'll probably find him on youtube as well, very cluey guy.
I was at the TCT this arvo for a while and we were talking about some 8" stators, I can price something for you if you like, just send me a PM and some details.

The hilarious thing about Yellowbullet is it very clearly states "where the weak are killed and eaten" and the un-moderated forum is called "trash or be trashed" and yet members who frequent there...
