Yeah mine seems okay. Put a 1 inch phenolic spacer on it though. They cook your carb. I also radiused all the top edges leading into the runners. The stock casting leaves a real sharp edge.

That was with a lynx square to spreadbore flipped upside down. Then fitted 1 inch phenolic on top of that.

For those who may not know it, the 253-308 rocker arms are the same as the Pontiac V8. This broadens the choice to steel [ Comp Cams ] or Crower s/steel.

I know the Crowers are made with 3/8" or 7/16" stud holes. Also good to see beehive springs being used.

I was looking at the Crow Stainless, which great for the money. Only 7/16 stud though. Luckily my heads came with 7/16. Happier with the Crane rockers though.
Yeah the springs were another “budget” work around. Valve stems, mainly seals are a little too big for dual spring. We’ll see how they go.

Don’t quote me on this. But if you haven’t decked the block. Stock height pistons might still be okay.

Crow may use the same rockers as PRW. I know of folks using the PRWs finding the roller tip wearing & going out of round.
