    Default Oil

So I've got this problem of my 253 stroker after an oil change the first 500-600km all is sweet doesn't use a drop of oil then after that it really starts to burn it after each drive you can notice the oil level has dropped. Currently got hpr30 in it I thought it might be the pcv so I installed an oil air separator but that doesn't seem to be the problem doesn't draw that much. Checked the plugs for fouling all of them are a blackish grey colour and no fouling on them. I was starting to lean towards an intake leak as I've found oil running along between the head and manifold not sure where else this could be coming from. Maybe rings, guides, not sure it's weird it only happens after that many kms, oil contamination? It's got me puzzled. People that follow me say there no smoke only when I floor it there a greyish black come out the exhaust

Just the standard commodore sump. I forgot to mention did a compression test all were 160-170. Do you think it might be a windage issue?

    is your oil level correct?

too much causes oil consumption issues
    (especially with strokers)

    Possible but not definite.
It sounds more like fuel contamination burning off after the 5-600k's travelled, leaving a low level.

Was the PCV valve changed out?

Has the idle speed/quality changed at all?

Should I be running slightly less oil I've just put in the standard 4.6 in when I change it that's with a z160 filter and that's right on the full mark. Or should a go half way between full and fill?

Yeah i changed the pcv for a new one that's not sucking much oil and you can feel it suck thru the breather on the other cover. The idle is always the same smooth and a little fuely but not flooding fuely. The carb doesn't leak after shutdown I've checked that. The oil doesn't smell like fuel but it doesn't really smell like anything to be honest even the oil smell seems to go compared to when you pour it out the bottle

They are all dry black around the ring and earth strap and the insulator is a darkish brown colour i wouldn't say oil fouled my old motor used lots of oil and those plugs used to clog with oil deposits

Iím starting to lean toward stem seals I took a video of a cold start smoked straight away and cleared warmed it up gave it a rev stayed clear until I let of and got some smoke. It doesnít have the o ring seals it has the viton on or whatever they are called are they the same for all Holden 8s or do they need measuring before I order more? Thanks for any input you guys rock

Yep measure up the valve guide boss od for size.

Factory seals are different theyíre square cut orings that sit in the lower groove on the valve.

to change style the heads need machining for postive seals as called. work better but not a drop on fit
