    Default 383 combo

heads up no using a VS 5 litre motor, bloke has a 308 VK Calais and wont change the numbers..

If you were going to 383 a VK 308 what would your parts combo be?

VK heads not VN's. just wants a 400 horsepower torque monster.

1.94 or 2.02 intake valve in the head try to bowl port it a bit, try to get a bit more at the pushrod pinch 1.8" cross section. Whatever you get 230-235CFM??.. Exhaust use a 1.6 clean up where the seat cutter has gone. Good seat job on both.

I'd use a TP single plane but they are $800+, Now if you must I cant believe I am saying this an air-gap.

    Cam hydraulic roller 236/244@50thou .600/.580lift 108LSA Peak 5800-6000RPM

Around 10.5:1 - 11:1 comp somewhere inbetween there.

It will make more than 400HP, it'll make more TQ than power if you dual plane it..

    Torker then, low and cheap...

Yeah, cast crank, scat I-beams.. I dont know what they are asking for a 383 crank these days, I bet its more than the $450-500 you can buy a 355 crank for. You'll need dished pistons, If he can swing it go to a forged if not hypers..

COME do like a kit with custom rods that need the same clearancing as a 355 but 3 grand later, nah... Thats the main reason not to go 383 all the clearancing anf grout/resin when you go thru to water...

Yeah, go the China Torker... $1100 is more than double the price of the 355 crank, but I guess the customer is paying so 383 it is...

How do you think that Hydro Roller would go in a 355 with VN heads and some comp?
    Peak around 6250-6500rpm?
    Cheers Pauly

Really well, but like you said 6500RPM peak instead of 6000, you could see if you could find an intake lobe with a touch more lift like .620-.640 if you have installed height... Depends on the heads it could peak more if its a huge valve huge port, I'd stay with basically a stock runner port, bowl ported with a 2.02 or even keep the 1.94.

They all do after they find out the price, then they regret it because of all the drama running the flat tappet cam in. I'll pay the extra $800 to go roller so I dont have to do it.
