    Default Blue 308 lifespan?

Hi all ive just brought a blue 308 minus tranz for $650- it apparently has just over 200000kms on it and was running well when removed. Dose anyone know what the average lifespan of a blue 308 and what are any common problems i would need to know about?? Any information would be muchly appreciated

.... serviced properly and not abused
it is not unheard of to get over 300,000 km out of it
even up to 400,000 before it needs a full reco

Change cam, lifters and oil pump and she’ll keep going bar valve recession and detonation.

Cam/lifter noise, low oil pressure and leaky rear main would be the first signs she's on the way out.

The rear main seal looks to be ok. Im planning on putting a set off roller rockers on it and putting new welsh plugs, fuel pump, oil pump and new sump/head gaskets and water pump befor i put it in my vh and see how i go from there. Anther question how long will a 6 cylinder diff last with a 308??

Change the cam and lifters while you are at it and the heads and sump are off.

Banjo is slang for "Go Bang!" A small Salisbury is just a disguised banjo.

If your going to change cam and lifters as well as pulling the sump off you may as well check the bearings and replace them while your at it! . Personally if it was a good runner I would not be changing the cam ect... , i would only do stuff required ie if it needed rocker cover gaskets ect... and give it a rattle can reco !

I may not change the bearings, but i'd lift a cap and use some plastiguage and check them. You have to untorque one anyway for the sump pickup if you are changing sumps. You could compression test it before removing the heads, plus look for evidence of cracked rings with the heads off.
