    Default 355 with a 2400 Whipple

    Gday Gents,

Long time lurker, first time poster.

Finally got myself into gear and have started a 355 build. Block has been stripped and will be sent off to be tested/tanked.
    Basic combination is as follows:

    • VT Roller Block
    • 4 bolt splayed main caps
    • C.O.M.E 4340 Steel crank Stroker Kit, H Beam Rods(Holden Journal), Wiseco -22 Dish Pistons
    • Solid Roller Cam (Unsure of specs to use)
    • Ported VT or VN Heads
    • 2400 Yella Terra top mount, intercooled

Turbo 350 or 400, BW rear end 3.45 gears, Tru Trac.

Will be used in my SV89.

Just after some advise on the above combo, if there are any mistakes i will be making and ANY suggestions welcome (apart from LS swap it)!

    Looks pretty good.
With zero deck and std combustion chamber VN's your at about 8.8 comp.
    Maybe a bit less dish?

I'd want the th400,a crank support if possible & overkill breather system with all the oil mod tricks.Prefer vn heads for lower comp ratio & usually less core shift if you want them ported.

That being said dudes have made good power from junk engines too although hidden turbo under the guard or even rear mount setup would be cool as fcuk.

    Why the 2400 over 2900?

TH400 it might have to be. Yet to speak to the trans builder.
Good point with the vn heads. What comp ratio should i be aiming for? I was chasing 9:1 which is still achievable 0 deck with standard vn chambers, -22 dish pistons.

Reason for the top mount is i dont want to hack it up too much. Not a fan of holes lol.

I was under the impression the 2900 doesnt fit under bonnet? I would rather got the 2900.

Who you got building engine & head work?

    2900 probably need a scoop.

Comp ratio would depend on fuel you're running, cam & few other things.

Even a 304 with basic mods would go well with forced induction so wouldn't need all best gear in engine unless chasing big numbers or want it to cop abuse.

This 9sec vl was done years ago..the only hole it has is under airbox which iirc sc89 already have from factory...
