    Default 355 4 into 1 vs tri-y

Hi all, ive recently been thinking about changing my headers on 355 vh Commodore with the main reason being clearance under the car.
Ive currently got difillipo 4 into 1s with 3" merge collectors which hang really low and are starting to bug me as everytime i come out or in my drive theyre getting whacked.
What are my option, the current ones have big primaries etc and i dont want to lose anything.
Engine has vn heads making a touch over 500hp at 7400rpm also has a harrop single plane.
    Cheers Chris.

Higher suspension an option? Re-concrete the driveway to smooth out the angle an option? Or even a block of wood or pipe in the roadway gutter to lift the angle? ?

    Higher profile tyres even?

    Yeah im hearing you mate.
Car has k frame spacers to keep the manifold under the bonnet, ive got 85 profile front tyres.
The drive is a nightmare mate and looking at it from a financial point it will cost me around a quarter of the price just to change headers.

Pump up shockers, with pump added in so can pumped up instantly?

But if its street car more than likely fitting y pipes gain more power for the street & lose 10-20hp top end.

The Gonzo modded Pacemaker 5700's Try Y's with the 3inch collectors will give you more ground clearance. What size are the K frame spacers?

A custom set would be the best bet to allow for the K frame spacers.

The spacers are 40mm. Yeah the gonzos would be awesome but id probably be better off doing the driveway for the price haha.
Doesn't seem to be a lot of options though with an asr sump and manual rack, i might be better off modding the ones i have or even pump up shockers as suggested by dr327hk.

I've got pacie tri-y in mine but secondaries are 3" instead of 2.5"
It's got smaller 1 5/8...for f280 355 has shitload of torque down low.

Probably suit yours better with the spacers & stock height...they tuck tightly to floorpan if anything probably need more clearance it's on pedders sl springs/185 front runners...the 3" pipes or mufflers will rub on big speed bump/driveway...eventually will put stock springs then bend pipes lower off floor, would cook inside car if not for all the sle insulation mats etc

PH5700's. Work pretty well for mine. Doesn't sound anywhere near as nice as the 4:1 though.

Gtrboy what style sump and have you got power or manual steer. From what research ive done it seems i might struggle with clearance as ive got manual rack and asr sump.
Narva is the sound really noticeable, hate to lose the tuff as hell sound i currently have lol.
    Thanks Chris

Surprised more guys haven't chimed in here. Under 550hp 1 5/8 pipes with 3" collectors do the job nicely and are a better fit!

Exactly what someone else mentioned to me prior to posting here.
Just had a lot of mixed results while trying to figure out what fits and what doesn't.

pacemakers with 1 5/8 primary and 2 1/2" outlet in tri-Y were the biggest I could find for my VH.

Would love some 4 into 1 but way too hard to fit and impossible to find off the shelf now.

I'm using early manual rack...can now fit a finger between steering link & 1 5/8 pipes...also got set of larger 1 3/4 pipes in shed, not keen to fit them unless needs it to run a 10 'cos look like even harder to fit & still need to raise front to standard height twin 3" is not gound friendly with sl springs.

Low down torque with 1 5/8 is crazy fun on street

Sump is vk group a item..where pipes curve in around steering link maybe 10mm-15mm gap to sump.

It is tight near firewall & floorpan..most need oxy job to bend pipes down.

It did have powersteer but was complete nightmare, propped engine up slightly at an angle & smashed 9x2 aircleaner into brock scoop with full throttle

Think I showed you clips of mine...still sounds healthy with 3 mufflers
