    Default Combo advice

Hi guys , looking for some direction with my current setup . Running full weight vs ss commodore currently has 4l60e and 3.89 diff gears .
Motor is a 355 , running 600series alloy heads , come low rise single and 1375 cfm throttlebody with efi .
Cam is hydraulic roller 242/252 612lift 108 lc.
11.2:1 comp on pump fuel .
Was happy with the way it runs but now I'm chasing more
Recently ran 12.8@108mph and then a 12.2 @ 116mph with wheelspin into second on street tyres and a bit of time on the limiter into 3rd as trans isn't happy .
Car made 380hp @ 7000rpm at rears on chassis dyno with a 3500 stall
Basically looking to get this car into the high 10s and will be changing the running gear to suit but was wondering what direction I should go with the motor.
The block has 4 bolt mains, half grouted, with the usual oiling mods .
Currently the motor has the scat crank with holden journals and I beam rods with only 3/8 8740 bolts so thinking of a crank and rod change to come crank with chev journals and some good h beams with 7/16 2000 bolts , pistons are kb icon forged .

Am deciding on which trans to run as the 4l60e is showing signs it's not happy

Basically with what I already have what can I use and what should I change to get the power needed to run a high 10, also thinking of going e85 and carb on this next build .
    Cheers guys 👍

108 mph sorry i think that dyno is a fair bit happy at 380rwhp.
combo from my knowledge is a bit mismatched. them come 600s are some big heads if i remember correct.

Could be a happy dyno, all I know is this engine combo won't see me in the 10s

    I ran 12.2@116 with a 430flyHP 304 in a full weight VR SS. Trimatic 5200/3.9

Your setup is terribly wrong. Would have thought it would run faster then 108 with that setup also.

3 speed (id go trimatic) stall around 45-5000 4.11 & ET RADIALS

Should be trapping 115-120 I would of thought. Good for mid to high 11's.

All those things are on the cards mate , gonna go the 3 Speed option just deciding on which one , have been given some great advice from a member on here in regards to that . I'm mainly after the direction on engine combo as I know I have a pretty mismatched combo , the heads are killing torque and peak power , I was always going to use cast heads to suit but the sales pitch on the come heads working with my combo sucked me in and then when I asked for some advice when the combo wasn't making what it could I was told the heads are too big buy some 590s

Aren't he 600's bigger? Like Tk said in another thread. The 590 are no better then pocket ported cast jobs.

Get the heads worked. Maybe change to a harrop or torque power manifold and get a smaller TB. You don't need one that big.

600s have a 207cc intake volume , good for a 383+ , the 590s are about 185cc so I understand now the port Speed and velocity is down with these 600s which is not good for power or torque.

Best best it to wait for some of the more knowledge people hit.

Actrol, Paulzig, hpe, tk might chime in and offer good advice.

The engine combo given would put out somewhere around 480hp and thus the 380hp atw is about right.

Common size street tyres have a dia. of about 25 - 26 inches, diff ratio 3.89 and terminal speed of 108 mph = approx. 5500 rpm.

Your combo has a peak power around 7000 rpm so rev limiter would be set at around 7500?

So unless your rev limiter was set at 5500 rpm, sounds like your trans is the main issue at the moment (TH400 would be a good replacement).

I would fix/replace the trans first as your combo (with drag radials at least) would get you close to 10s.

On the night the limiter was set to 7500 and shifting at 7500 in first and 7000 in second , the trans definitely slowed it down in the 2-3 shift with slippage and hitting the limiter before finally going in , only happened at the strip for the first time , before hand it changed perfectly through the gears at 7500

Too much intake induction, just like the reversion thread.

What was involved in using the trimatic cava ? Are you still running efi or carb ?
