Flipping cast headers for turbo manifolds question
I have a VT 304 ive purchased sitting on the engine stand. A pair of cast headers and plan on using them for a turbo setup.
I read you could flip them run them here run them there. The bolt holes all line up no matter what orientation they are but the exhaust ports dont.
Am I doing something wrong?
How do people run these for a turbo setup?
Thanks

Its not upside down, its side to side. That way they face forward. Happy fabrication.

I used the super short 4-1 hsv headers with good success. Had to modify the passenger side (use drivers side Mani on pass side). Had to take pie cuts from the top of the pipes straight after the head flange to correct the direction that the collector points at. Do it right and you can fit a pipe down between the back of the oil pump and the k frame/engine mount.
Drivers side (using old passenger side header) bolts up.

And yeah they point forward and down. All bolt holes and ports line up sweet.

vt casties stick out further than vn-s & think outlets different angle.
Seen drivers & passenger side stay as factory just pipe run under sump joining them that then goes near engine mount straight up to mount turbo under guard..can also mount turbo off the head easier.
Downside is heat & clearance under starter.

Thank you all for the replies.
Aren't the LS exhaust ports round? Where as 304 are a rounded rectangle?

i used scat h beams in m stock stroke deal for that reason the hypatec pistons could be used in a floating deal stoker is ok for vn heads but if you keeping manifold extractors early...
