Smile Aiming for 10's. Quick poll.

No forced induction or N2O considered.

Currently 11.7@120 manual, SFT 355/4-bolt. VH real street car. Street/circuit chassis setup.
Might have an 11.5 in it when/if I get better.

    Options;

A/ Get good auto/stall, optomise chassis/diff gears. Leave engine alone.

    B/ Add 100hp with heads/intake/rollercam.

    Guessing similar $?

Bonus points for option B (my favourite, at the mo)

Do you know the weight (as raced) and the power your making now?

Option A is probably the smart choice but option B sounds like much more fun

If you do B, you'll probably have to do A as well anyway.

So 11.7 now, what is you 60' time - what gears and stall and cam do you have at the moment?

Really only need 30hp if everything is in sync.
Auto will make you hate the car
11.7 is a long way from the 11.0 it can be.
Its always tempting to open the engine-
    Not always the right thing

To get better time with manual need to be absolutely brutal & run slicks not radials...only seen a few streetcars crack a 10 most went low 11's & break things.

dog308,mrgpak & yellow vk king05 were well known in 90's

    What gearbox?

Heard toploader/muncie usually run better times then tremecs

Probably got 11.2-11.3 with that 120mph with softer suspension etc

Yeh, softer doesn't do corners though. (cant have everything as much as we want to!) ET streets. Traction not a problem. Single plate clutch is a bit sus though! Tremec, pretty happy how it shifts. (for a synchro box) Guess the stick shift upgrade is a flat shifting unit. Better talk to Actrol about that. Guess I'm re-inventing the wheel...really

As you will know, there is not a lot in sync with a syncro box, a single plate clutch and a drag strip.
Auto, I agree will ruin it as a street car, which is what it is.
Thanks, hated Claytons, even when it first came out.

Get some $50 worn out struts with factory 6cyl springs/shocks & take off front sway bar see how it goes if you can be bothered.

With it's stiffer suspension, single plate & radials etc 11.7 still a great time for manual streeter.

Going auto will kill what you like about the car.

Should do low 11s easy in a vh but 60ft is what counts if the mph is there.
    My cars heavier and N/A did 11.3 121 mph 1.6 60ft.
Manuals suck at the 60ft only way is to run slicks and dump it hard off the line.
Least slicks will have some give to hook up, radials not much and much more likely to break stuff.
Auto cant be beat really and full manualised auto can be just as fun imo.
Aside from improving in the 60ft you will need more power to run a 10 realistically.

Maybe it's a case of doing a bit of both? Upgrade shocks to adjustable units so you can tune the suspension for both road use and the strip and then MORE POWA......

Can't do slicks or 10's here without a cage and tech inspection. But be nice to do it once

It's got adjustable Konis but their not really for drags. Might have a play with em though.
