Default Hyd roller 355 turbo build

Mate called the other day for a CSR nitrated cast crank. $1800.

SPOOL now make a crank for the Holden which is meant to be pretty good. Dunno about price tho.

My COME RACING billet 3.48" crank is on its way over as we speak mate. I ordered and paid for it last Tuesday morning as soon as they opened for business. They sold out of cranks pretty quick from what I've heard.

Lots of progress lately. Doesnt look like it at this stage though, lots of steps backwards in order to go forwards lol
    Every build you make,
    Every risk you take,
    Every part you break,
    Every tyre you bake,
    I'll be watching AV8.

As Jeff said above, not a huge amount of visually stimulating progress has happened yet, but the pace has shifted from non existent to slow going, so I'm getting stuff done on the car regularly and as always, buying parts as funds allow. I can do some updates more regularly if people are interested..

Since the last "update" on this thread, as far as engine components/progress goes, it's been very limited as I've bought an ex gmh nos crate 5litre motor with 20k kms on it to get me going initially. Other than that, I've bought: csr water pump, bullet timing cover, high energy sump and pickup(this is for the 5.0 slapper motor, the 355 will get an asr), yt platinum rockers and probably a few other bits I've forgotten.

Other parts I've bought for the car include, aftermarket industries sp1200 triple fuel pump hanger for the custom cell im making, 2x walbro 460s, pierburg low pressure intank lift pump, 18meters of 1/2" stainless instrument tube for fuel lines( I've allowed for plenty of mistakes), 3/16 stainless brake hardline, competition engineering rear drag shocks, whiteline adj top diff arms, xyz front Coilovers, wilwood 6 piston 330mm brake kit, pwr radiator, spal 16" bad ass mf'er fan(not the slimline crap) pwr dimple tube trans cooler with another spal 800cfm 10" puller fan, lokar firewall mount braided black th400 dipstick tube, 600x300x100 intercooler, turbosmart opr40, 12v customs wiper motor cover and probably some other stuff as well that I've forgotten about right now.

Actual work completed on the car recently include: vl manual steering rack conversion, complete removal of all abs components, vz brake booster and master conversion, I've replaced the radiator support panel as I wasn't happy with a previous repair done on it, now I'm in the process of mounting the pwr radiator, I've cut the factory lower rad mount/crossmember out and making a new one out of 25x50 rhs. It will be about 40mm lower(to sit flush with rad support) and about 10mm further forward, to give me as much room as possible for the 16" spal fan. Once the radiator and intercooler are both mounted on the new rad support crossmember, I can start fabrication of the fan mounts on radiator(no shroud) and then the turbo setup,I've had some flanges machined to suit the standard casties so it won't take long to get the turbo kit made, it's a very simple design that's been done a million times now.

Are you dead set on a turbo setup now 383vk? Gotta love a turbo plastic!!

Another 12 months has flown by quicker than I expected. Shameful I know.. Work/Family life/lack of motivation/ impulse driven vs maloo purchase etc etc have all been excuses I've used to blame the snail pace progress... The car was supposed to be driving by the end of the year but... Anyway, I'm slowly chipping away here and there on the car. Getting a lot of the fabrication work done whenever I can, still a lot more to go yet.

Turbo kit is a reversed casty setup as previously mentioned, ended up removing the raised tapered face on the outlet flange of manifolds and filing flat, also removed factory studs and drilled/tapped bolt holes for 10mm. 2" Crossover goes behind the vl manual steering rack. 4" dump pipe goes between strut and tower outside engine bay. VERY VERY tight in there with a 20x8 wheel, A generic 600x300x100 cooler is being utilised for now. My power goals will outgrow this turbo combination but I'm sticking with it for the sake of getting the bloody thing running for now.

Here's a couple pics of where it's at if anyone is interested (hopefully they upload properly through Tapatalk)
I'll get some more things ticked off the list before too long..

Some more pics for anyone interested in the turbo kit and and a couple specific build pics to give you an idea of where I'm heading with them car. It's allVERY basic stuff here.

    Casty flange
Oil drain made and timing cover modified for -10 speedflow drain fitting
Basic overview of manifolds before I remade the crossover and added gate takeoff at collector

The start of an 82 litre fuel cell with Aftermarket industries sp1200 triple walbro fuel pump hanger, this is just the top and side pressing being checked for fitment, I'll get to fabrication on this shortly..
    Fuel pump hanger
B&M street bandit shifter position, I'm yet to fabricate the "drop box" to accomodate this position of fitment yet. I'll get there..

I have heaps more photos but as I'm going through I realise it's all pretty basic stuff really. I guess I'm just trying to gather some more motivation for myself by sharing some of my build with you guys. Also, It's Never a bad thing to add actual content to this forum either as opposed to just asking questions all the time.

Any further info on vz booster/master conv? I have 26mm vz hsv booster/master sitting ready for my 94 VR.
I realise you made all new lines, so kind of redundant, but are the threads the same for the lines? Any blueprints for your bracket? Any other hiccups that may catch me out?

Aweome turbo setup by the way. And loving that manifold next to VL style rocker covers.

Pretty much same as a Vt. Just a better booster and master.
