I'll do a little 'how to' with pics next time I fit a rope seal.
It's pretty easy to get them fitted up nice & leak free once you know the 1 little step that most people don't do.

Nup, not how I do it.
Punching some dimples into the seal area is a good idea tho, gonna steal that one.

    Hi all,
Is there a sticky for the rear main 'rope seal' installation?

    Thanks

Hi mate, search 'COME racing Holden V8 rear main seal' on YouTube. It's a good run through on how to properly install the seal. Unfortunately, as I understand, the issue is that the rope seals which were actually fit for purpose are no longer available. I've just done my rear main and I used the Felpro neo conversion seal.

Thanks, yeh have just seen the vid. My engine builder got me a Durapro GSGS150D full set of gaskets which came with the rope seal.
Just seen how old this thread is too sorry.
