    New exhaust done today.

    Sounds f*cking tuff.
    Like, seriously tuff.

Bills got a basic tune sorted for it, idle is a little wooley, but stable enough.

Gotta put a few kays on it then down to see Bruce heinrich & his chassis dyno.
I'm not on here much any more - don't bother PM'ing me, chances are I won't read it, just call me on 08 8376 9540 if you need to get hold of me or email knight28@optusnet.com.au, phone is better!

Another early headed Holden, love it, stock rocker cover look sets it off.

Forgot about this thread. . .

For those of you that are interested, we ended up taking the Prem down the 1/4 just to see what she would do.

I fitted a crappy bonnet and gave the filter some fresh air, dropped the pipes, and fitted some second hand drag radials.

First run I had the rev limiter in the way, clipped the limiter in each gear and lifted at 1000' - did a flat 12 at 97mph.

The second run I moved the limiter out the way - I muffed the launch (didnt realise the starter was holding me back, then the lights took be by surprise = inexperience) - Only did a 1.65 60'; went through the traps at 11.5, 115mph.

The tune was fat, and with a clean run she would have gone low 11 easy.

But the 10 bolt was still in one piece, and I was happy with the 11.5, so much to Tony's disgust I didnt take her down again.

Since taking her down the 1/4 I've worked on the tune a bit. She's clean, crisp and snappy as fk on the street now. I am kinda curious to see how she would go on the 1/4 again . . . but content to just be doing street cruising duties as was originally intended.

Nice work Bill, no doubt there's more in it, I love the standard look to the engine bay as well. I have a couple of questions if you don't mind.

How does the Torque Power intake compare to a Stripmaster for bonnet clearance if you know, and what sort of air-cleaner set up do you normally run for the street?

    Many thanks, best wishes,
    Jason.

As you probably already know/suspect, the Stripmaster sits lower than the Torque Power - by how much exactly, I'm sorry, I dont know. (A good inch lower at least I estimate)

On the street I run a 14" x 3" filter, with an extra low drop base.

It fits under the bonnet, just . . . it's so close, I can't use a wing-nut to hold down the filter!

Bill, is the engine the same as what Tony built a few years ago or has it had another ‘tickle’ and ‘freshen up’?

By the way I like the car and love the look of the engine in the bay.

This is the same engine mate - the engine detailed in this thread. I forgot about the thread. We took it down the 1/4 last year, so I thought I would pop something up.

The donk originally had a Crane 280 and TP dual plane, 3,500 stall and 3.55 gears.

Then received the freshen/tickle up by Tony as detailed in this thread. Now runs 4.44 gears and 5,000 8" converter.

Comparing the old combo with the new combo is like comparing night and day. Lots of fun on the street, still very streetable though.

Sounds like a fun ride and I reckon it would sound tuff as looking at the cam that’s in it. Good job.

Thanks for the reply Bill, I assume that's with the centre bonnet support rib still in place?

I really like how you've kept the car original looking but underneath it's tough, very classy.

Thanks mate - yeah, she is pretty cranky - sounds pretty tuff. I get some funny double takes when I fire her up and peeps realise the 253 isnt under the hood anymore.

Yes, centre bonnet support is in place - no mods required to the bonnet.
