the first secret to making webbers work is maths , you must have the correct runners length for the combo , the second is the engine combo to start with which pete will have nailed anyway from there it is simple tuning [ which is more involved than a holley / rotty ] the brakes can be an issue with really large cams but can be over come with a vac tank - no big deal , they look menacing and will drive awesome

Fuel stand off is a fact of life with I.R setups even with efi, i imagine some fuel would collect in a airbox set up with a single filter but with individual filters per carb i dont think it would be an issue, you could make a box setup seal to a plate under the airfilters

Camshaft requirements would be slightly different but as zok said a vac canister or elect vac pump for the brake booster would fix any vac issues, its a bit of mucking around compared to a single plane 4 barrel setup but it would be something different and throttle response would be awesome allthough you will have to be more precise with throttle control

john have you got any good pics of the available intakes, id like to look at a assie speed one in the flesh, my main concern is sacrificing air flow to package the carbs in the desired position, it looks like the inboard runners would put a bit of a kink in the intact tract.........will try and see what pics i can find

a hilborn setup converted to efi would be pretty awesome airflow wise

i hope there is enough material to port these intakes to the size we need, if not we will have to do some welding

The adaptor plate bolts look like they go close to the intake runner.... hard to tell with that photo.

One thing with Webbers is the low fuel pressure (3-4psi) they require to run.
Might be okay for circuit racing, but I foresee problems with hard launches at the drags.

Had a bit of a play with a quad webber setup, on a mates car a couple years ago, and they are a PITA to balance out correctly.
Random lean backfires from one carb to another, adjust mixtures on one, another will play up
4 barrel went back on lol.

Yeah I'm hearin-ya! Just looking into the idea atm so no commitment to going that way yet.
If I'm not 100% confident to go the quads, I'll just drop it & stick to the plan & that's TP single high rise & 4 barrel carby. Be a lot cheaper anyway.
I don't know how to find out the best flow figures of these things as there's not much info out there. I'm sure Pete will tell me when times up to make a decision lol. The last thing I want is constantly messing around trying to keep the quads in tune..

Mate, don't let my experience with them scare you off, lol..... Zok may very well have these issues covered.

Hey Pete I did have the opportunity to buy an Enderlee/Aunger mech fuel injection system from the guy I bought the Walky block off. His plans was to use it on the Walky block & go drag racing.. I did see it for sale a few months ago..

webbers are more set and forget than any other carby all of the above mentioned problems arise from poor set up the amount of factory IR set ups around surely says something about the possibility of getting them working correctly , also the low fuel pressure is a myth too i run 5 to 7 psi in simple side drought set ups as well as down drought with no problems. they need to be set up correctly but once done their no more problem than any other brand .

Zok, bit of an observation that not too many front runners are using these type of setups.
Of course I'm talking 1/4 mile, not circuit racing.
6 psi with the combo' I mentioned and, nothing but flooding and lack of tune ability.

I got the answer Pete. It's been sold to a bloke in Townsville who intends to use it for drag racing...
