Sounds like you got things happening there Pete, from memory the clevo rocker is 1.57-1.575" cant remember but there abouts, can check tomorrow for a closer look if ya need to.

I love these threads reminds of the days before my time when guys had to think to make the mumbo, not like now when you can buy anything for the right price.
I tell what this thread will show is that its the attention to detail that gets you there.
Things like porting, dummy assem things that take the time cost the bucks.
Cause you have to mix and match parts to suit the budget, but make sure things/ parts all have the correct clearances so she fires up free from carnage.
On the main cap subject have you ever tried dowelling around the stud holes say like on a scat h-beam? would that be of any benefit?
As you know Pete when you dowell something like that(like on a clevo head as well) it stops movement in the both x-y and let the big studs hold the z.
    Any way just a thought,
will be watching, good luck bud.(pitty its not a clevo, cast 2vs) ha ha.

troy, yes i will be doweling the caps, im going to cheat and just drill and ream straight down through the cap in to the block then turn up some sleeves to replace the material removed out of cap so they are a snug enough fit over the stud without interfering with the dowels, kinda like a LS factory rod bolt with the little sleeve on it to take up the clearance, i think this mod is worth doing

i know there is more power to had in the bottom end but the budget just wont go there, that doesnt really matter, more is always nice but not when it starts costing, i will do everything i can that wont cost any $.

troy i also like the idea of making good power with your head and not your wallet, you are correct its easy to just buy it all now days but this is a little more interesting way of going about it

No, valve spacing doesnt matter if you use stud rockers, not using the common shaft style Holden rocker that are held in with 2x 5/16 bolts ..

Pete - YT offer an LS rocker arm as an option on their shaft mount holden rockers if you know who to ask.
That tends to indicate that the LS stud rockers will most likely work.
Bang 1.8 LS intake rockers & crane energiser 1.65 exhaust rockers on it.

ACL race cast pistons will take a beating so long as you don't rattle it, I've seen em take 8000rpm.

I have a poocomp 3.48 crank under a bench here, it's a POS, but if you want it let me know, also get a couple of sets of Scat 5.7" chev journal rods.
I'm not on here much any more - don't bother PM'ing me, chances are I won't read it, just call me on 08 8376 9540 if you need to get hold of me or email knight28@optusnet.com.au, phone is better!

Yeah, they're stupid money for a cast piston, but they do come with rings.

The new design hypatech's are pretty good tho, probably good enough.

I've got a rod hone, rod balancing jig & lots of A9L's, get precision to drop off a set of ARP bolts & I'll do you a set at mates rates.

A man after my own heart.

Maybe we could coerce a good ford man to do up a set of 2V's to run with PM's early heads.

Just for a bit of fun

Love these type of builds. More time , effort and knowledge to get the job done as apposed to big budget and the best parts .
Kinda reminds me of my engine (big thumbs up to TK btw)
