    Default pontiac roller rockers on vn/vr/vs/vt heads?

    Hay guys,

    first time poster.
    I watch the threads quite often and have looked at a few topics on it but havent got any hard evidence yet.

    I am building a 355 stroker for my VT Senator at the moment, consists of a scat crank, 5.7" chev eagle i beam rods, 383 keith black hypertec pistons,10.1 comp ratio, ported polished and relieved heads, a kelford 234 (286 ad) with .520" cam etc.

    So i have been reading that the pontiac 1.65 7/16th roller rockers fit 308 heads? been getting mixed answers whether they fit 304 vn onward heads?
    Looking at importing some from the states to back here in nz.

    Is anybody using them on 304 vn onward heads?

    also do the shaft mount ones bolt up directly?

    the prices here for yella terra and even comp cams are herendous here for holdens!!!

    Pretty sure the stud mount ones will fit both heads.
    Shaft ones, not sure.

    How's your exchange rate??, there's some Comp Cams, Lunati and Harland Sharp 1.65 rockers all around US$350 plus delivery, which should make them cheaper than you can buy locally

    Ah, some do, some don't. I can tell you the shaft mount Yella Terra roller tips ones do not line up with the valve tips due to the inlet/exhaust orientation.

    They will bolt on, but they will not line up correctly;
    Have you got a straight on shot like this;

    FWIW Yella Terra actually warn about it in their fitting instructions when fitting the premium shaft mount YT 5020 that due to the old red/blue/black heads valve orientation that there are two front sets and two rear sets per head and not to mix them due to the same reasons above.

    i've just put a set of pontiac COMP gold stud mount rockers on a mates 304 (VN heads) i've been building and they bolted up perfectly, rocker tips line up fine, geometry all good clearance to pushrod was fine with a 288 solid. I'd prefer to buy local but until parts companies look after us i'll be shopping overseas
