What’s car weigh? Without making me re read everything.
Set up properly you should no difference between 2 and 3 speeds . I've had guys change from 3 speed to 2 speeds and go faster with the 2 speed . Car is full standard weight so I would say about 3100 lbs

Most of the big bangers are going 2speed t400’s. The lower 1st ratio gets them moving better.

    Comparison to mine.
    3100lb 459hp 108mph
    3600lb 440hp 112mph

For reference mine was tri/5200 3.9, like I said earlier it was struggling off the line also. How did yours launch?

A 2 speed 400 only has 2nd and top gear they dont have 1st gear , They literally take of in 2nd gear thats why they use them so they dont blow the tyres of the start . The are pushing a harder gear to get moving . My launch is good it just gets up and go . Are you trying to say my car has 459hp . 350lj

Have you thought about a 2" carb spacer on top of the Torquer manifold?

Means cutting in hole in that sleeper bonnet, but livens it up a bit.

OK, that would place the vent tubes very close to the closed bonnet, and could be the reason why Nik commented about it, not sounding crash hot up high.

I had a 1" spacer on my torker under the VH bonnet with a drop base filter. I measured and reckoned I could have got a 2" with the same filter.

It has a cross over from front to the rear on the carby and yes it is close to the bonnet but I don't think that is the issue . Saturday night was the first time in the 2 years it has been going that there has been miss and it sounds like its floating to me . They are only a cheap set of single spring so that's what I will check first . Nik and I had a good talk about it on the way home to try and get more out of it and 1 thing was to put a hole in the bonnet . 350lj

Yeah prostreet scoop with enclosed carb setup will make a good difference or even just aircleaner out.

My vh had 9x2 rubbing on brock scoop obviously felt better at night with cooler air so took scoop off one day.

Big difference! Just won't last 5 mins without getting pulled over the way it looks.

Always thought lower powered cars are couple tenths quicker with 3spd vs 2spd?
Sure as hell feel better on street with shorter 1st gear.

Moroso calculator says 12.1 for 108mph, but, that is with a perfect run of course.

I'm stoked with what you have done to date, and hope you persevere with this one.

No worries, you're probably right about the springs.

Im stoked aswell as it was never ment to run 12s . I think it will go better but i dont want to push it much more with the factory rods and bolts and who knows how old cast pistons that are in it now . Crazy part is that i have a new 355 sitting there ready to bolt together but i just want to have fun with with these cheap motors . 350lj

My combo stock stroke 308 Chev forged pistons a9l rods vt heads f280 crane cam edelbrock airgap manifold 2inch spacer and qf750ss
So far has made a best of 342 rear wheel hp with the peak at 6250rpm, what would that be flywheel?
Also took my torana to a weigh bridge and got 1560kg it seems that it’s 200 kg heavier then any other Torry on the net, any guess on my quarter time I would get?
