Sit the water pump on the timing cover and start shovin bolts in till they all stick out 1/2 inch through the back - except the lower water pump bolts cause they screw into the timing cover ! The one for the alternator adjuster should be slightly longer as well

Those holes usually sit over some locating pins. So long as it sit properly it will not be an issue. But it could do with a bit of a clean up.

Here is what you need all 5/16" UNC

    4 X 1.75" LONG
    1 X 1" LONG
    1 X 1.5" LONG
    1 X 3.75" LONG
    5 X 2.75" LONG
    1 X 2.25" LONG
    1 X 1.75 LONG

    14 in Total

The two holes in your picture are .250" holes to locate the timing cover onto the two dowel holes in the block

    Cheers Dave
