tony just a question, is this the thread you are refering to, are you sure you drilled and tapped it 1/2"BSP, as you would know to tap it out to that size would require it be drilled 18.5/19mm diam and that would make that section of the block very weak!!!

i drilled mine through 15mm and tapped it 3/8bsp

Awesome thread! TK, can i ask why you used HQ castings & not VL? I was lead to believe that VL's are a much thicker casting and flow quite well if the tricks are done.
Again, many thanks for sharing your wealth of knowledge!

rvk, the oil glaary is drilled and tapped to 3/8 bsp{**** knows how the poms worked out these bsp sizes}the the fittings are drilled over size fromm how they are supplied to 12mm id the oil}.the dual plane intake and early style heads work very well for this application producing excellent throttle response & torque just what you need to get up hills fast, horsepower doesnt do to bad either.the last engine made over 260rwkw with these heads{less porting}and manifold every one does vn's.i will post some images when i work out how.

Hi Jase, Tony tells me the engine is in and feels stong. I look forward to hearing how she goes on the dyno and what changes are made to jetting, bleeds etc.

Good job on the engine mate - I appreciate that HEAPS of work has gone into her.

Yeah, as Jas said it is 3/8 BSP - long post, shoulda proof read it better! I'll edit it so no-one gets the wrong size.

Vac pump will not be hooked up for a bit, just running breathers for now untill everything else is sorted & tuned - vac pump is untried, so with an all new setup it's probably best to introduce as few potential issues/variables as possible.

I don't really like VL's for a few reasons - they don't realy have any more metal where it counts anyway, they have the exhaust crossover that needs to be filled (PITA) & they have the larger VN style chamber.
A set of VL's with the same time put in them wouldn't be any better & would need to be milled more to get the same comp.
