Default crane 286... couple of Q's

i am going to get a crane 286cam in the very near future and i was after some advice on some other stuff... and rough prices if u have them to would be great.

what lifters should i get to go with it?

    what valve springs?

    pushrods?

anything else i should get to suit the cam?

i have another set of heads aswell so i want to get them worked aswell before i put the cam in. what advice would you have in that department?

i already have roller rockers which i will transfer over to the new heads when they go on. and a big throttle body that will go onto another manifold i have.

for now i am going to collect the stuff over time, and then once i have it all, i will rip the motor out and freshen it up, give it some compression and wack in the cam, heads and other stuff.

Just get crane lifters to suit or GM ac delco genuine ones.

To do it properly run a nice dual spring Isky 6005 is good.

A good pocket port will do wonders but KEEP the std valve sizes in them..

Pumba, flick an Email down to ; Jim@cranecams.com.au, and he will send back the info you need regarding the valve train.
As for the heads, ring Headsense and talk to Colin, or maybe the "celeb" Allports LOL.

yea i want to have a talk to colin from headsence. i have heard he is the man in brisbane to see about that stuff. and its close to home to so thats another bonus. and allports was another option, but he is no where near me so that kinda counts that one out.

sounds good, not sure if you've mentioned any where if you have a stall or diff gears? higher stall and shorter gears would help

nope, dont have a stall yet, but in july/august i am getting a 2900rpm convertor put in, and a set of 3.45:1 gears. i did have 3.9:1 in there until a couple of months ago when i got 3.08:1 put back in... stupid thing that was lol

Might benefit a little more from a 3500 converter.
Bet you wish you could get them 3.9 gears back eh?
    Stick with it.
