    Default Cam Change ?

Hi, I have a 1966 289 ford V8 with 302 heads, Mega Cam ( 270/270 ). High comp pistons, anti pump lifters Tunnel Ram with 2 x 650 cfm carbs etc. etc.
My question is, I want to replace the 2 x 650 cfm carbs with 2 x 450 cfm carbs. WILL I NEED TO CHANGE THE CAM/LIFTERS AS WELL. At present the 650's are over fuelling and I don't own a gas station.

If the carbs (either the 650's or the 450's) are tuned to the engine there shouldn't be any need to change the cam just because you're changing carbs. 2 x 450's should be plenty for a 289.

    Hi
More responsive carbies will give better economy . Most people think big is best . The 2 smaller carby`s will make a difference .

THANK YOU FOR YOUR REPLIES, VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.

The 2 x 650's have just ben fully rebuilt and tuned. If any one has 2 x 450cfm Hollies with Mechanical secondary's, I would be keen to do a deal. Cheers
