Default 302 oil level- Strangest issue HELP

I just drained the oil in my 302 Windsor due to strange pressure readings.
Only 1.5Litres came out!!, but the dipstick is still at the same level ( just below max fill) from when 6Litres was put in only 500Kms ago. WTF??

No oil leaks Anywhere, except a very slight bit of oil residue at the bottom sandwich plate cover.

How can I lose 4.5L of oil, with no leaks, and no oil burn smell, no white smoke and the dipstick still full??

Even now the oil is drained, the dipstick still had about a 10mm of oil on the tip.
My sump is a double hump with the small hump at the front and big at the back.

Does this have 1 drain plug or 2?

    Pics would help.

Dipstick needs to be in the rear deep section of the pan. Pointless at the front

Its a Mustang fox body twin sump pan, the hole in the larger sump is for the dipstick which is the rear.. So unless someone has grafted a dipstick tube into the smaller section?

The dipstick goes through a hole in the block front left corner.
There is nowhere on the sump that the dipstick could go through, front or rear.

According to Summit the dipstick is suited for this pan.
    Dipstick part code FMS-M-6750/C303
    Sump - TRD-9754.

The only other hole in the sump other than the drain holes is the oil level sensor hole which is plugged off.

Anyway, disregarding the dipstick issue for now, how would I lose 4.5L of oil in less than 500kms with no signs of losing oil and with good comp???

    Further testing done.......

No oil found on spark plugs.
    No oil soot in pipes.
    175-190 comp on all cylinders.
Only 50ml in oil/ air separator.

    ???

I know I thought they had the cast piece riveted to sump with a screw in tube . But as mentioned above had me wondering Dipstick is through the block in the front left corner of the pan

Did you check the oil level just after you had run the car or did you let the oil drain back down from the heads and valley for a couple of minutes?

If you still have 10mm of oil showing on the dipstick I would say there is still a fair bit of oil in there. It hasn't created a vacuum through the PCV or something silly stopping the oil coming out? Breathers not blocked? Oil filler cap off?

Thanks for the replies, but I have done all the obvious & easy things. Definately a more complex issue here.

The oil has to be going somewhere. I’m thinking maybe valve seals are letting the oil through to the combustion chamber when sitting there and whrn started burning it off, but I dont really see any smoke from the tailpipes at startup, maybe just a very light white for about 1 sec.... Now is that enough to burn off 4Litres of oil in 500Km’s??? Mmmm

Leak down test has come to 24-26% on all cylinders leaking to the sump and valve covers. I am gussing this is the oil control ring letting oil through as I still have 170-190 Comp.

I have refilled with 20w-50 oil and will drain after 100Kms to asses.

The testing continues.... Very close to pulling these heads off though.

You say only 1.5 litres came out. How much went back in to get it to the normal full mark on the dipstick?

Pcv is functioning correctly, could do with a lower weight spring as I only have 5” vac at idle die to the large cam. PCV letting through a little bit of oil into the air/oil separator as normal.

Breather new and working, breather and PCV are my oil fillers.
