    Default replacement auto EF V8

i need some help in finding a replacement auto for my farmcar (ef fairmont v8). its got some issues with the electronics and the auto is stuck in limp mode. i know next to nothing about these motors, what i need to find out is what NON-Electronic autos fit behind the 302.

im hoping theres something common from say xf-eb 6 or 8? that i can get a hold of easily & cheaply.

A c4 would be the only one that comes to mind . Only thing that might hinder that is the starter is on the drivers side and needs to clear the rack and steering shaft.

Or depends what is wrong with the BTR , they can be repaired reasonably

I'm with Gregaust, fixing the BTR will be cheaper than converting to another auto.
It's probably something simple causing it to go into limp.

i got a hold of a workshop manual for the btr and ive checked out every solenoid etc and the actual auto is fine. very occasionally itll select all gears when first started up but quickly goes back in to limp mode. i spent 2 weeks trouble shooting this thing, checking temp sensors etc and couldnt find it.

being just thrasher ide prefer it to be as simple as possible, im even contemplating going as far as removing efi so there is nothing electrical left on the car.

but hey if someone has an idea why its doing this that isnt in the ford manuals im all ears!

You should get it scanned and once you know what fault code its showing it'll be a massive time saver chasing it down.

Have you replaced the inhibitor switch? These cause a lot of problems with gear shifts etc as they not only do the reverse lights and starter but also tell the transmission ecu what position the shifter is in.
