Default new xy and coupe shells are on there way!!!!!!

this is no joke!!! the story goes a bloke bought $600,000 worth of new old stock from ford then took the parts to thyland and then spent another $2,000,000 tooling up and is in the process of making new xy shells and all panels like the americans with the mustang bodys. apparently they have allready made the first xy shell as a test and it turned out really well all the panels are slowly feeding there way here you can now buy NEW xw/xy gaurds from rarespares and i have seen these in person and they look the S@#T! new bumpers etc.... and in about 12-18 months you will be able to buy a NEW xw/xy body with all hanging panels for about $20,000 and evan better news coupes are next!!!! new gaurds for xa,xb,xc will be avalible in about 6-8months a long with some other stuff. the only problem i see will be trying to register the shells as they wont have any numbers stamped on them and these new parts might put the prices down for coupes but if you have a really rusty coupe atm but still has the tags and you have the money for the new shells witch will be about 20 grand aswell i would say your gonna be laughing

i'm more interested in replacement body panels, all body panels that make up the whole car,so as to repair existing ones.
personally, i think the complete shell supply is a bit expensive, besides, for those who want do restoration of any popular historic classic, the car itself would be more authentic, thus more valuable, thus keeping with the
    theme of things.

This is absolute BS. I seem to be the only one that has a problem with this. I hope the panels and shells are as bad as ****** engine parts and electrics.

Seriously, how can you people be HAPPY about Thai's making Falcon shells for you to street machine in? I get pissed off when my shirt has a made in China tag on it let alone building my favourite cars up using one of their shells. It disguists me!

I am glad they won't have VIN numbers and suggesting that people rebirth cars is bad, if not criminal. Imagine, your Asian falcon coupe with Australian VIN involved in an accident because the car fell apart when you were driving down the highway.

Re-bodying cars is actually highly ilegal, If someone uses a GT comliance plate to re-manufacture a falcon 500 into a GT a and sells it as a GT, Then that person is liable many owners down the line for the difference in value.

Importing pannels and parts is ok, but whole boddies is another thing.

Why doesn't someone here remanufacture body panels? At least they are Australian made.

Interesting, anyone got any substantial facts other than "some bloke" has tooled up in Thailand to reproduce panels.... i can understand the tooling but i would assume the person is using an existing business to do the stamping, and they are limited out here.

Provided the shells are of good quality I don't see any problem with this - perfect starting point for a race car, no need to deal with rust, dents etc & if it doesn't need to be registered then there is no need to pirate an existing cars plates.

By the time you cherry out an old shell you'd be getting damn close to that sort of spend anyway.

I'd much prefer to see replica's getting banged up in historic circuit racing, getting chopped up for tubs etc for a drag car & so on & so forth.

Look at it as a good thing - to have an XY or coupe race car there will be no need to chop up an original. Good thing if you ask me, should preserve a few original bodies that would otherwise get chopped up/written off as race cars.

This has been discussed at length on Fordforums.com.au. I believe it to be factual.

Imagine if the shells are good quality? That will be taking a fair bit of work from panel beaters.

Pauline was definitely onto something. Those of us that bothered to find out what she had to say were filled with a sense of hope that our country might be turned into a lucky place once more. Unfortunately most people in this country sit on their ass and watch Today Tonight, taking everything they say for gospel.

    Anyway........ No ChinCoupes!!!!!
