    Default Trimatic issues

G'day, I've got a full manual trimatic in my torana, the issue I have with it is when I put it in first it's like the handbrake is on till it builds up some revs then it's like it let's go and takes off, cheers

Could possibly be a valve body fault.
From your description it would appear the second clutch or reverse clutch may be applied but difficult to say.

Best to speak with the person that built the box, hard to know exactly how they may have modified the valve body without seeing it.

Best to check over all the basics first , oil level and smell, selector linkage or cable adjustment etc.

Yes I've checked the cable, adjustment so I was figuring it's in the box, might have to pull it for a checkup, cheers

Sounds like a cross leak in the valve body.

    Band dragging on?

With a trimatic the band is supposed to apply in first and second gear.
The 3rd clutch is also on in manual first, if something is dragging it would have to be the second or reverse clutch.
